Aliah and Logan's Lexington Wedding
Aliah + Logan

Aliah and Logan wanted their wedding to showcase Kentucky’s beauty. “Logan was born and raised in Kentucky, and I moved to Kentucky as a child,” Aliah says. “Lexington holds a special place in our hearts. Logan and I met at The University of Kentucky, spent our dating years in college and dental school exploring Lexington together, and eventually got engaged in Lexington. As we continued our educational paths, Logan and I had to spend the next two years in a long-distance engagement. I moved to Kansas City for orthodontics residency, and he moved to Nashville for an oral surgery internship. We were so excited to celebrate our marriage back in the city where it all began, along with our friends and family.”
An essential element of the day was remembering those who couldn’t be there. “My grandma could not attend due to health reasons, and during wedding planning, my grandpa, Logan’s granny, and Logan’s papaw all passed away. My grandma and I spent many mornings gardening together when I was a child, and she grew beautiful peonies in her yard; the peonies in our wedding florals were a nod to her. To remember our late grandparents, Logan’s mom created thoughtful keepsakes for us to carry during the wedding ceremony. My ‘something blue’ was blue fabric from one of my grandpa’s ties with an embroidered message tucked into my bouquet. It was so comforting to feel I had a piece of him with me on such a special day.”
While Logan’s family is local to the state, most of Aliah’s family is from North Dakota, and she was excited to show them all the Bluegrass has to offer. “We wanted a classic wedding with bright colors and subtle details that honored our Kentucky home, so a spring wedding on a beautiful horse farm was perfect for us. The groomsmen shared Kentucky bourbon in personalized glasses before the wedding; horses were in the fields behind our ceremony backdrop; guests enjoyed an Oaks Lily, old fashioned, or Country Boy beer gathered around bourbon barrel cocktail tables during cocktail hour; and Logan and I shared a private last dance at the end of the reception to a song by Kentucky-native, Chris Stapleton. At the end of the night, we had a bride and groom glow stick send-off, but we met our guests out on the town to show them some of our favorite bars in downtown Lexington.”
