Taylon + Peyton's Spindletop Wedding
From the Bride: Our wedding weekend was one for the books! Our rehearsal was at the wedding location and dinner was held at Movie Tavern at Brannon Crossing filled with popcorn, dinner, drinks, gifts, and of course a movie. We watched Father of the Bride and it couldn't have been a more unique experience for all of our guests. Each guest was invited with their very own personalized movie ticket plus an extra to the rehearsal. I wore a white short dress with a pearl headband and the groom wore a suit jacket and light colored button up. It was the perfect combination of glam plus date night. We were happy to call it "Date Night with Peyton and Taylon."
The day of our wedding finally came and my bridesmaids and I arrived early that morning to Spindletop Hall in matching pink silk pajamas with the bride in white. We had makeup and hair completed early on and were treated to tea cakes, fruit kabobs, and homemade chips. I remember the smell was from my mother and grandmother and a bottle of hairspray as they helped me complete the finishing touches on my hair before the ceremony began. It was a smell that may seem odd, but it reminded me of how these two have always taken care of me and had exactly what I needed every time.
The groom and his guys arrived later on and had an awesome slider bar with homemade chips. Upon the final touches of the bridal party, a bouquet of flowers arrived from the first florist that Peyton got me flowers from all those years ago. It read, "Happy Wedding Day My Love" and it was like all the nerves I had in my stomach completely vanished and I couldn't wait to be at the top of Spindletop's steps to marry this man. Soon we had our first look on those steps that we would be saying "I do" on later that day, and it was truly a beautiful moment. As I stepped out onto the patio and saw the man of my dreams leaned against a column with his back to me. I remember the nerves slip away as he turned around and saw me, and the tears full of love fell from both of us.
All of our photos were completed prior to the ceremony to allow for time to explore all of the beauty of the venue. Between photos, so many tiny words of admiration of love between the bridal party and the bride and groom were whispered under the wind outside. Little words that only the intended listener will ever know. It's lovely like that, the way wind held its own language that day.
My bridesmaids were dressed in different styled navy blue dresses and the groomsmen wore navy tuxes with matching navy ties. The groom wore the very same tux with a classic white tie, and my dress was a ball gown style with long sleeves and a sheer button-up back. We were married at the sight of our "I do" spot in front of a cross Peyton's stepfather built for us. Our flowers were all coordinated with whites, greens, and pinks and were locally grown. Down the aisle, I carried my late grandfather's Bible with me as my something Old (testament), New (testament), borrowed (from my grandmother) and blue (the blue leather). It was as if he was there with me that day. Something so unique was our unity ceremony which involved the rocks from two creeks we each grew up next to, and combined the two containers into one carefully placing the rocks together. At the reception, our seating chart had each table labeled with the name of all of our family's dogs! The head table was the Finn table, named after our Goldendoodle dog. Our cake was made by Peyton's step mother and decorated with flowers from our florist topped with a pair of vintage Herend swans, and the groom's cake made by Brandi Romines featured one of our all-time favorite game day day moments when Austin McGinnis kicked a field goal winning kick against Mississippi State with little figurines of us sitting in the stands. Our night ended by going out to Kentucky Men's Basketball pregame song and our guests waiving white pom-poms. It was a night neither of us will ever forget!
