Sarah and Benjamin's Disney Wedding
From the Bride: Benjamin and I grew up less than a mile down the road from each other, but we did not cross paths until 2011 in middle school. Sarah immediately had a crush on the charming boy who sat behind her. However, it was not until five years later, as fate would have it, we were placed in several classes together and Benjamin was the one with the crush. After months of spending time together and growing closer as friends, Benjamin finally got the courage to ask me to be his girlfriend. The next five years were full of several graduations, wonderful memories, big decisions and several trips to Walt Disney World one of which included a most spectacular engagement!
We quickly began planning our fairytale wedding! As many little girls do, I had always dreamt of this moment in my life and had been planning it for years. After visiting several venues around the Bluegrass we eventually decided there was no more perfect venue than the place where we both have the best memories, Walt Disney World. The planning process is a little different than a traditional wedding, but I quickly learned to go with the flow and leave it to the experts! The year of planning included several zoom calls, emails and trips to Florida visiting our ceremony site the United Kingdom Courtyard in Epcot, reception site Italy Isola in Epcot and a dessert party site Sago Cay at the Grand Floridian. We decided on December 28th since we both loved the holiday season and it was one year after our engagement. And last year after our closest family and friends wrapped up their Christmas celebrations they all headed south!
Our wedding was nothing short of a fairytale with glass slippers, Cinderella’s carriage pulled by 6 white horses, Major Domo with a epic ring delivery, and a solo violinist playing our favorite Disney melodies! An 8am ceremony was something I was not too fond of at first but it made for the most magical morning in Epcot. After our ceremony concluded in the United Kingdom we headed over to Italy for our favorite Disney brunch foods hand picked by the bride and groom. Each table was adorned with black glittery overlays, gold candle sticks and named after one of our favorite rides! After a long morning concluded we all met at the Grand Floridian that night for a firework dessert party featuring our favorite Disney treats like Dole Whip, Mickey Pretzels and Churros. During this event I wore a reworked version of my mother’s wedding dress. Benjamin and I danced our first dance to “So This Is Love” from Cinderella. We all danced the night away under the Magic Kingdom fireworks. To conclude all wedding celebrations, we invited two special guests, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, to take photos and interact with our guests! Needless to say it was truly a Fairytale!
Bride’s Advice: Don’t stress over the little things and go with the flow. Inthe end it will all turn out perfectly and will be a day that you and your husband or wife will never forget!
