Mary Beth + Tim's Louisville Wedding
From the Bride: Our wedding day started out with the bridal party and groomsmen getting ready on separate floors of the Pendennis Club. While the girls were drinking mimosas and having a relaxing morning breakfast, the guys were hanging out shooting some pool in the billiards room. The ceremony was at Calvary Episcopal Church. I absolutely love the cello, so having Ben Sollee play during the processional was so magical. We also arrived at the church and left after the ceremony in a classic Rolls Royce, which really fit well with our desire to have a classic and timeless wedding atmosphere.
Once the ceremony ended, the cocktail hour began on the first floor of the Pendennis Club where guests drank our His and Hers cocktails (Amaretto Sour and Old Fashioned) along with some tasty hors d'oeuvres. The guests also were able to leave us a message on an old rotary phone as a unique take on a guest book that we will have made on a vinyl record to look back on how special our big night was with our family and friends. The dinner on the second floor started with the Churchill Downs bugler’s “call to post” and him singing “My Old Kentucky Home”. Tim and I wanted the dinner to feel romantic and intimate, so we had candles everywhere across the room to help us with that atmosphere. We cut the cake with a family heirloom sword that my parents also cut their wedding cake with! It was so special to be able to carry on that tradition at my wedding and I can’t wait to pass that on to my children on their big days.
The third floor of the Pendennis Club was where the dancing and band started. In between the dinner and dancing, Tim and I had an outfit change! I changed into an all black outfit with a sequin skirt to add to the NYE vibe and Tim changed into a white dinner jacket. We had the most amazing band from Nashville play, and the additional horn section really gave us that big band/Frank Sinatra feel to the night. We danced our first dance to “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)” by Natalie Col. While our family and friends were dancing the night away, we had a coffee bar to make sure everyone could stay awake for the countdown to midnight. Once the time came to count down to midnight, everyone joined in on the count while we had a balloon drop just as the New Year came. It was the most magical and amazing night of our lives.
Bride’s Advice: Try to take in the small moments and memories made while planning because the time flies faster than you think.
