Meg + Jay's Louisville Wedding

From the Bride: While I was getting ready with my family, my MOH (who is my sister-in-law) gave me a butterfly to add to my bouquet. Butterflies have been important to us since the day my FIL passed away and a group of butterflies flew by after we asked for a sign that he was doing okay. I had then a first look with my bridesmaids, followed by a first look with Jay. We were able to get all of our photos out of the way before the ceremony so that our wedding party could enjoy cocktail hour. I think the flowers were one of the best parts of our wedding. We had bright summery flowers with lots of greenery and each bridesmaids bouquet was made up of an individual type of flower from my bouquet. We also had my FIL's best friend as our officiant, which added a great personal touch to the ceremony. We also had some pretty fun music during the ceremony with Tom Petty and The Beatles as the processional and "You're my Best Friend" by Queen as our recessional. We danced our first dance to “Into the Mystic” by Van Morrison

We were able to take a moment by ourselves with appetizers after the ceremony, which was a wonderful break to just focus on each other. We went back to the cocktail hour and then went to the reception in the Grand Ballroom. After speeches and first dances, I had an outfit change (including my custom blue Converse!). At that time, Sydney came up with the idea of taking photos in the mirrored bathtub in my MIL's suite. So we "borrowed" a key and a bottle of champagne and went up to her room. Sydney had us hang out and pour champagne into each other's mouths. At one point, Jay accidentally turned the faucet to the tub on but luckily didn't get too wet. Sydney and her vision were amazing!

Bride’s Advice: Get legally married before and even have a small ceremony before the actual wedding day. It makes the big event a whole lot less stressful!
