McKenzie + Ethan's White Plains Wedding

After our engagement, the first wedding planning detail we decided on was the location. While not a usual wedding venue, Ethan and I both have memories there growing up, plus recent ones together. We knew it would be a perfect place to get married, and we are so thankful it worked out. We had our ceremony down by the water underneath the trees, with the reception inside the lodge.

Our pets are part of the family, so we wanted to think of ways to incorporate them into the wedding. Our chocolate lab, Diesel, was our ring retriever. Instead of the typical ring bearer, Diesel ran up the aisle to deliver the rings. He had a personalized ring holder attached to his collar, and he did a wonderful job! We also had our cake flavors named after him and our cat, Pumpkin, with dessert napkins to match.

One of our favorite parts of the wedding day was the reception. It started with a welcome speech by my dad, a prayer by my grandfather, and toasts from some of our best friends. The food and cake were both from local vendors and were amazing. The wedding cake was designed to match my dress with small flower details around each layer. Each layer was a different flavor: red velvet, salted caramel, and chocolate. After dinner, we had our first dance to “I Cross My Heart” by George Strait on the covered front porch with surprise sparklers during the lift - everyone loved it! Our band gave a great performance and everyone danced the night away. My getaway dress was a remake of my Mom’s wedding dress - we used the ruffles, beading, and straps and my aunt put it together. We had a cold spark exit with our friends and family surrounding us. It was truly a perfect ending to a perfect day!

Bride’s Advice: A “perfect” wedding is when two people in love become husband and wife - that’s all it takes to be perfect. Limit your time on social media and trying to stay up with the trends - the options are truly endless for wedding planning. Keep your focus on making the day about you and what you love!
