Laci + Jerod's Madisonville Wedding

From the Bride: Leading up to our wedding, we were so excited. However, a few months prior to our wedding, my soon-to-be husband’s mom unexpectedly passed away. We felt blindsided, and it seemed like the joy had been knocked out of us. I tried to find special ways to incorporate her into our day. I preserved his mom’s memorial flowers, had them made into matching tie clips, and gifted the tie clips to my groom, his brother, and his dad.

During the wedding planning process, Jerod and I decided to do a “first look” of the reception area after our ceremony. This would allow us a few minutes together to soak it all in and enjoy everything we had worked so hard on. However, there was one priceless treasure we could never have prepared ourselves for

During the private first look of the reception area, Jerod and I saw a painting of us with his mom in our wedding attire. We later learned that, as a wedding gift from my parents, my mom had coordinated with our wedding painter to create a surprise painting of us with his mom. She was even wearing what she had bought to wear for our wedding. It was so incredibly special.

Bride’s Advice: Girl, relax. It is YOUR day. You will hear 110 opinions when it comes to planning, and ultimately the only one that matters is yours. If that means you want hot pink as your main color in October do it. Taylor Swift once said, “Just be yourself, there is no one better.”
