Faith + Michael's Hager Hill Wedding!
From the Bride: Raised by his grandparents, Michael was honored when his Aunt Ange and Uncle John offered to host the wedding at their estate. They had hosted many weddings before and are known in Eastern Kentucky as the house on the hill, but this time it was special. They were like second parents to the groom, and it was exciting welcoming Faith’s friends and family, almost all from outside of Kentucky. Guests came from several states, the Matron of Honor from Japan, and the Best Man from England, for the festivities. It was what the wedding planner described as the most diverse wedding she’d ever seen - both in people and in events.
The bride’s Harvard Law and Harvard University classmates were seen dancing with the groom’s Transy PIKE brothers. The bride did a mother-daughter dance with her Mom, who raised her on her own. All guests in attendance with their moms were welcome to join, and many friends expressed afterwards that this inspired them to do the same at their weddings - whether because they lost their dad or were always raised by their mother. Still, the bride even incorporated her heritage from her Nigerian dad, having an Igbankwu, a traditional Igbo ceremony the day before the wedding. She also incorporated Igbo elements the day of
It was a wonderful day with wonderful people willing to travel a tremendous distance to celebrate love.
Bride’s Advice: Relax. It will be OK. None of the three songs on our schedule were sang and no one knew. No one will remember, as long as they have fun.
