Kayla + Matthew's Lexington Wedding

From the Bride: What made our wedding day so special to us is that I really feel like our wedding day was personalized down to every detail about what makes Matt and I us. Every single person who has watched us grow from high school sweethearts to a happily married couple contributed to this wedding in many special ways. We were also so lucky enough to be able to have our dog, Sadie, who we have had the pleasure of raising since she was a month old, be able to be with us every step of the way during the wedding. It was important to us when choosing a photographer, wedding accommodations, and wedding venue that we be able to have her with us and everyone did an outstanding job of making sure that was the case (even our cake had a little hint of our love for our Sadie Bear)! While doing that we made sure to tie in our love for Kentucky, Disney, and our own happily ever after.

Our venue stood out, our decorations, and tiniest details stood out because they were all handpicked and tailored to us. My jewelry was special to me because I had on my late grandmother’s ring and in my bouquet, I had my late grandparents with angel wings to be with me on our special day. Our wedding ceremony was so remarkable and unique to us because our pastor was my husband’s uncle. He has married so many couples in the family, that it was only tradition that he marries us as well. During our ceremony we did a unique blessing of the rings. Where we had each of our closest family members warm our rings and say a quick prayer over them and wish us well in our marriage. To make our details our own and one of a kind we had books from my mom’s personal library, portraits from Keeneland and the Derby, to local artists from our hometown of Somerset, KY. All our table numbers were photos from us dating in high school to our engagement photos and rehearsal dinner photos with little fun facts about us as a couple. Our seat list and chalkboard wall were designed and brought to life by one of our good friends. Our signature drinks came from Keeneland and our love of Disney. Our florals tell another unique story as they were all fresh florals, picked by my sister-in-law. We danced our first dance to “Heaven” by Bryan Adams. Everything in our wedding was unique and personal to us. Every little detail was labored over by so many people to make sure our big day was as special as possible and as personal to us as we could get it, even down to my personalized reception shoes.

Bride’s Advice: Someone did tell me this, you get so caught up in the moment you forget that your BIG day is really just about you and your partner. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks as long as you two are happy together and happy with how YOUR day has turned out! Don't let anyone else tell you differently.
