Kayden + Logan's Ironwood Wedding
I always knew that I wanted a fall wedding. The weather was perfect. We were a bit concerned about a chance of rain, but the buried bourbon bottle and prayers worked. The overcast and fall foliage made for beautiful photographs. The temperature was perfect, not too hot and not too cold. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day for my dream wedding. Upon preparation for the best day of my life, my closest and most treasured friends and family surrounded me. Their presence offered reassurance and comfort to my eager and anxious nerves. I was excited to see all the planning and preparation for the big day unfold and become real. The fresh florals were truly amazing. The scent filled the entire atmosphere. I had zero regrets using my local hometown florist. It was important to us to utilize as many small businesses as possible...and they all did fabulously!
I wanted our wedding to convey a traditional elegance theme with a hint of old Hollywood glam. I think the wedding gift given to me by my father provided a layer to this style...he restored an old 1967 Ford Mustang. We used it as our getaway car. There were other sentimental mementos intentionally incorporated throughout the ceremony and reception, too. A small photo of my grandmother on her wedding day was framed and pinned to my bouquet. Along with the small photo, a vintage gold and diamond brooch shared with me by one of my absolute favorite teachers, Mrs. Marshall, adorned my bouquet. My grandfather officiated the wedding (he has always been my number one fan). During the wedding ceremony, we passed our rings from hand to hand of dear family members, so they could warm them with prayers, while an instrumental version of the song "The Blessing" played.
All while planning our wedding, we hoped for it to be a day to rejoice and celebrate our love and a day for loved ones to enjoy and always remember. I think this was achieved. The reception was SO MUCH FUN. We had a grazing table and open bar with a signature drink fountain. The signature drink was named after our fur baby, Bentley, and the cocktail napkins were embossed with his picture. The main course consisted of a salad and pasta bar. There were a variety of desserts for guests to choose from. The designer cookies were detailed perfectly. Cold sparks signaled our entrance as we had our first dance as Mr. and Mrs. Mercer. We danced to “I Cross My Heart” by George Strait. The dance floor later lit up again with family and friends waving and flashing their glow wands and rings. Guests blew bubbles and held sparklers as they lined a pathway for my husband and me to exit through. I was truly elated and covered in blessings.
Bride’s Advice Say yes to those ideas you are contemplating, especially if you think there is a chance you will regret not doing it or not having it at your wedding.
