Chaney + Andrew's Engagement Photos & Engagement Party
“The Engagement Photos”
We are getting married at The Kentucky Castle in March, so we wanted to do our engagement photos there as well. We knew these photos would be used for our wedding website and save the dates, and we wanted to create a cohesive feel that would show our guests what to expect from our big day! It ended up raining on the day of our shoot, but we made the most of the evening with a few rain pictures and had fun with it. Going into the shoot, I told my photographer that I wanted the images to feel like works of art, and I wanted them to have a lot of movement. I think she really captured the moody castle look we were aiming for. We had to include our dog, Weller, as well! These were the first professional pictures we've had that included our little guy, and we will always cherish those sweet moments with him at The Castle!
“The Engagement Party”
For us, Constitution was love at first sight. After having a special date night sipping cocktails at the bar, we started dreaming about what it could be like to host an intimate party in the space one day. Once we got engaged, we knew our wedding guest list would be long! So, we decided that we wanted our engagement party to have a more cozy, intimate feel-- and we immediately knew just the place. With room for only 35-40 people, we invited our closest friends and family to enjoy cocktails and a few sweet treats with us to celebrate our engagement. The space is so stunning, truly the only decor we needed was just a small 'welcome' sign in the front room to ensure guests they had come to the right spot (it's a speakeasy, so there's no sign outside, etc). Once guests entered the front room of the small, stone house- which looks like an old book store- and rang the doorbell in the front window, a bookcase opened up into a rich, dark wood, dimly lit space with cozy corners for catching up. With the bar entirely to ourselves, we enjoyed amazing drinks and even better company all night. As a couple, we are really into unique cocktails and a great bourbon list, so it was fun to share Constitution (which has some of the best cocktails in the region) with our friends and family- most of whom had never been there. It was the perfect start to our wedding season, and we think it really set the tone for all of our wedding events to come.
