Katie + Peter's Lexington Wedding
From the Bride: Our wedding weekend was magical from start to finish. With most of our friends and family traveling to us in Lexington, KY, we wanted to offer a variety of opportunities to spend time together throughout the long weekend. We started with a rehearsal dinner catered by one of our favorite restaurants - Corto Lima, which was a hit in our trendy AirBNB in the Distillery District - Top Shelf. Our small wedding party, consisting of my sister and Peter's best friends, spent the wedding day getting ready at our home and the boys going on hike at Raven Run. One of my dreams come true was being able to take First Look pictures in Gratz Park, our April wedding date allowing for the tulips to be in full bloom. We picked our ceremony space, the Clerestory, for its blank canvas, open concept, and beautiful natural light. All of the long days of planning were worth it when we were able to recite our own vows to each other in front of all of the important people in our lives, wearing white with a beautiful background of greenery. Electria Strings set the atmosphere as guests arrived and played an amazing rendition of Elvis' Can't Help Falling in Love as I walked down the aisle. They got the party started with their amazingly talented group of musicians playing electric string instruments during a beautiful cocktail hour, followed by the most amazing wedding day food we could have dreamed of. We danced our first dance to “She's Got a Way” by Billy Joel. Finally, we danced the night away until it was time to close things out with an homage to the Bride's home state with the playing of Country Roads. We then joined everyone back at the Distillery District and Goodfellas Pizzeria for a nightcap.
Our wedding weekend wasn't over as we spent all day Saturday at the Keeneland Spring Meet. Our day started with a Tailgate catered by Minton's where everyone could enjoy Bourbon and Champagne, and continued with money won and lost betting the races trackside. We definitely felt like the biggest winners getting to share that with the people we love the most!
Our big day went off without a hitch due to the amazing people we were able to work with throughout the process. Our wedding planner Emily Birk was THE BEST, by our side every step of the way, and made our wedding day not only so special but so relaxing as there wasn't a single detail she hadn't thought about. Our photographer captured the entire event seamlessly, leaving us with memories we will cherish for a lifetime. We are so grateful to have been able to work with such great vendor.
Bride’s Advice: Have fun and enjoy it! We chose to spend our time and money in areas that involved us getting to share the most time with our guests that were traveling up to 12 hours to be with us on our big day. We loved inviting our friends and family into our lives and sharing our favorite things about Lexington.
