Jodi + Jackson's Lexington Wedding

From the Bride: Jackson and I tried to be as intentional as possible with all of the details throughout our wedding day. The ceremony took place at Cathedral of Christ the King, which is where Jackson attended elementary and middle school. Jackson and I are both of Filipino heritage, so we wanted to incorporate Filipino traditions within the ceremony, including the exchange of the "Arras" (coins) and placing of the "Lazo" (rope or chain). The gold coins and chain that we used were the same ones from my parent's wedding ceremony 30 years ago!

My favorite flower from my wedding day was the ranunculus. I attended a friend's wedding last year and took a photo of the specific flower in her bouquet because I thought it was so beautiful and wanted to incorporate it into my bouquet! One of my favorite items from the wedding day were my earrings, which were my Mom's earrings from her wedding. Growing up, I remember admiring the earrings from my parent's wedding photos... I even told my Mom to keep them in a safe place for my wedding day!

After the ceremony, the wedding party took photos at the Kentucky Theatre, which is a very sentimental location to us because it's where Jackson proposed on March of 2022. Also, if anyone knows Jackson, they know how much he loves to watch movies, so we always enjoy spending time at this venue and supporting the local business.

The reception took place at the Campbell House. We were drawn to this venue because all of its Kentucky charm. We knew many of our guests would be traveling from out of town, so we wanted to ensure they would experience our home state to the fullest, from the bourbon barrels to the Kentucky blue carpet. We danced our first dance to “Can't Take My Eyes Off You” by Frankie Vallie. Jackson is an Ophthalmologist, and I'm an OB/GYN, and the names of our signature drinks were a play-on of our medical specialties. Jackson's drink was a boulevardier named "20/20," and my drink was a strawberry mule named "The Epidural." The drink stir sticks had an image of our cat, Sia!

At the end of the night, Jackson and I had the opportunity to share a private moment together dancing to Taylor Swift's "Lover" while our guests were preparing for the sparkler exit.

Bride’s Advice: There will likely always be something else you could plan or something more you can do for your wedding day, so try not to let the stress of planning a wedding overshadow the moments of celebration with your future spouse along the way!
