Emily + Jeffery's Lexington Wedding
From the Bride: Jeff and I got married Friday, May 27, 2022 in Lexington, Ky. We started with hair and makeup in the morning around 8:00am in the bridal suite at the Campbell House. The groomsmen met at our house nearby and then came to the Campbell House later that afternoon for their “grand entrance.” Jeff’s one request was a “game day” themed walk in. The groomsmen exceeded his expectations with their unique outfit ideas- Buc-ee’s seemed to be a common theme! We both wanted a more traditional wedding with a black and white color palette. I wore an off the shoulder, ivory satin ball gown with a Cathedral lengthveil. The bridesmaids were dressed in black floor length dresses. The groom and groomsmen matched in black tuxedos from Geno’s, with black cummerbunds, suspenders, and bow ties to bring it all together! We wanted a little pop of color in the pictures, so the bouquets were white roses with a variety of eucalyptus... an airy and draping look. We knew when we got engaged that we didn’t want to do a first look before our ceremony, so when we headed to Mary Queen Church at 4:30pm for the ceremony, the anticipation and excitement kicked in. The church was draped with white and gold ribbons along with floral arrangements of white roses and greenery around the altar. As I walked down the center aisle, I made sure to stop at the end of the pews just to look around to get a glimpse of all our family and friends who were there to support and celebrate our love and marriage, and I am so glad I did! As I made my way towards Jeff, the last few seconds seemed like a blur, but I do remember seeing a few tears falling down his cheek! The ceremony was followed by a cocktail hour at the Campbell House where guests enjoyed Kentucky beer cheese and drinks. During this time, our friends and family were asked to sign our guestbook so that we could remember everyone who was there to celebrate! Our guestbook was a large watercolor painting of the Campbell house that was also used on our wedding invitations. After our grand entrance, a funny and witty welcome toast from my dad kicked off the reception. Our table numbers were pictures of Jeff and I at that age.. from one to twenty-four. I think that was one of our favorite details. We did black and white linens with very simple greenery and votives. The dinner featured southern comfort food, served buffet style. Our signature drinks, the Marco Margarita and Polo Punch, were named after our dog and cat. The Polo Punch, a vodka and lemonade, was a favorite among our guests. Steering away from our traditional theme was our funfetti style cake, since that is our favorite flavor! We danced our first dance to “Coming Home” by Leon Bridges. We danced the night away, but because we were having so much fun, I forgot to put in the order for our favorite cheese sticks from Mad Mushroom to get delivered. It was truly the best day ever!!!
