Colleen and Sawyer's Wedding at The Arling

From the Bride + Groom: We chose to get married about 20 minutes outside of my hometown at the most amazing venue. It is an old tobacco barn sitting on a golf course so it was the perfect mix of rustic and elegant. My sage green and white colors went perfect with the aesthetic. My favorite detail about the venue was Ollie the Trolley, in which the owner of the venue will take guests to and from the local hotels. This was a big hit with our out-of-town guests.

We exchanged vows under this giant oak tree in front of a wooden cross draped in a beautiful arrangement of white flowers. Seeing the sun shine through the branches of the magnificent tree and my husband standing at the end of the aisle waiting for me will forever be locked into my memory. I walked down the aisle to an older song that not many people knew called “There is Love” which talks about how God was present at our wedding and joined our hearts together. We definitely felt God’s presence and every time we hear that song, it brings back all of those wedding emotions and reminds us to keep God at the center of our marriage. Sawyer’s grandfather passed away just a few short month’s after our wedding and reflecting back on our wedding, he says getting to hug Papaw at our wedding would be his favorite touch.

Our reception kicked off with an amazing dinner. I’ve never had catered food taste as good as ours did. We had roasted beef in au jus with green beans, loaded mashed potatoes, rolls, and a salad. It was to die for and so many of our guests complimented the food and went back for seconds! Our DJ was great by getting everybody out on the dance floor right of the bat by doing a couples dance which helped the party get started. A couple of other things I loved about our reception were our signature drinks: “the Rupp and the Wrigley,” which were named after our pups that couldn’t be there. We also gave everyone a personalized cup, koozie, and a sample of mine and my husband’s favorite candy as a party favor. Our dessert bar was also a huge hit with cupcakes, cheesecake bites, brownies, etc. Lastly, our send off was so fun with white light up balloons all around us as we said our goodbyes. We ended the night with a ride on Ollie the Trolley with our guests. It was so much fun!
