Amy + Todd's Georgetown Wedding
From the Bride: Todd and I were born and raised in New York about an hour and a half upstate of the city. When we got engaged we played with the idea of moving to another state. We decided to check out some different areas in Kentucky. We spent days in the car traveling the entire state, from Grand Rivers to Lexington and all the towns in between. On one of our last days, we found ourselves in Georgetown at a picturesque orchard picking blueberries. Todd said to me, "Could you imagine if we could get married here?" After that, it was all I could imagine. When we got home, I booked the event barn at the orchard without ever touring it. In the coming months, we made the permanent move to Kentucky.
Our wedding day was an absolute fairytale. In all of the details, our personalities really showed through. Having our dogs, who have been through it all with us, there on our wedding day, just roaming around was so special to us. Todd was searching for a very specific flavor of cake, which made finding a cake one of the hardest tasks. The flavor we had for our wedding cake was French Toast and it was incredible! Our signature drinks were the Southside Fizz and Kentucky Blushed. Our drink tasting was one of my favorite parts of wedding planning! I purchased a collection of old books with intricate colorful bindings from a used book store. As we were decorating the day before the wedding, a very old love letter written in beautiful cursive fell out of one of the books. It felt really special!
We got married on my grandparents' 54th wedding anniversary and we dedicated a song for them to dance to following our first dance. The speeches given by our bridal party made us laugh and cry. We danced our first dance was to “My Best Friend” by Tim McGraw. I will forever be grateful for our loved ones who made all the effort in the world for us to have the wedding of our dreams.
Bride’s Advice: Don't sacrifice on the things that are really important to you.
