Katlin + Kyle's London Wedding

From the Bride: Growing up you dream of your wedding day – the flowers, the colors, the bridal party, the cake, the husband- the DETAILS! Your wedding day should be a direct reflection of the love you and your partner share. I feel like our wedding did just that – classic, intimate, goofy! From the morning of to the last song of the reception, the details are what makes the day perfect and beautiful.

I treasured the many private moments of the day that not all of the guests got to see. My bridal party gifted me with hand-written letters to the bride. This was an unexpected surprise the morning of and set the tone for the day. The letters were personable, comforting, funny, and came with lots of (happy) tears. A moment I will cherish forever with my girls! My husband and I tend to get stage fright in front of large crowds. We knew that we wanted to write our own vows but did not want the extra stress or nerves of saying them in front of our guest. Therefore, we exchanged vows privately during our first look! This was PERFECT for us – we felt comfortable, no pressure, and it was nice to save this moment for just the two of us! This memory is my favorite from the day – it was intimate and allowed us to share our feelings/emotions in a private setting.

I have always loved looking through my family photo albums! Pictures are worth a 1,000 words and are cherished forever. Because of this I knew that I wanted to somehow incorporate my love for pictures into our wedding day! Therefore, we decided to have a Polaroid guest book. We were able to set up the cutest backdrop and had 2 Polaroid cameras. With the help of two of my family members the guest book was a success! When I see the pictures of our guests, memories of the day are so easily recalled. I have looked at our wedding guest book countless number of times and can’t stop smiling. Additionally, we had a photo booth with several props! The photo booth was such a HIT! Not nly did our guest get to take their photo booth pictures home, we were able to get a copy of all pictures taken at the booth from our DJ – the photos are PRICELESS!!

As a couple we LOVE dessert – best part of a meal! We knew we wanted to highlight this at our wedding! What better way to do so than a 5-tier cake with two additional single sheet cakes. In total we had 7 different flavors of cake - tuxedo, lemon, dark chocolate champagne, vanilla, tiramisu, carrot, and white chocolate raspberry. Our guests had the ability to try as many flavors as they wanted and even take some to go! This detail allowed our guest to get a taste of one of our favorite things to do – eat dessert! We both have a sweet tooth and had a blast sampling the flavors after the wedding reception! We agree that tiramisu took the cake! In addition, one of our favorite wedding gifts played a huge role in this part. My grandmother gifted us with a unique and personalized wedding cake server set, knife, and champagne flutes to match. These pieces were beautiful to add to cake table and will forever hold a special place in our hearts and home!

Bride’s Advice: It is no surprise that when planning a wedding it is easy to get stressed and overwhelmed. These emotions will try to steal the true JOY that comes with this season of life. I didn’t anticipate all the small decisions that had to be made, for example, the table setting. Do you want the napkin placed on the plate, to left of the plate, to the right of the plate, under the plate? Where should the table numbers be placed (ETC.)? My florist said it best – you are not going to have a portrait of the table setting hung up in your house! I wish I would have heard this day one of wedding planning! It truly put into perspective of the advice most commonly heard – don’t stress about the small stuff. It is important to spend most of your energy on the big details – the stuff you are most excited about – and the small one delicate to your wedding planner (or someone else) if they cause you too much stress! Always keep in focus the happiness and excitement of planning a wedding. If you need a break it is OKAY to not think about the planning for a few days! And very important from experience – your soon to be husband will probably say “it is whatever you want” (lol) – just take a deep breath and ask your maid of honor!
