Alexandria + Lance's Lebanon Wedding
From the Bride: Bibbidi-Bobbidi-I Do! Our fairytale wedding took place in Lebanon, KY, also known as “The Heart of Kentucky.” The ceremony was at St. Augustine Catholic Church and reception followed at Venue 68. From the very beginning, we knew we wanted our wedding to be consumed with extra special details and an exceptional guest experience. Lance and I are high school sweethearts (15 years strong), so we knew our wedding needed to be timeless and live up to long-awaited expectations. We moved to Missouri 3 years ago, so we were thrilled to celebrate and introduce new friends to our Old Kentucky Home!
We agreed from the beginning that we wanted to include various Kentucky-themed details and surprises. We served Mini Kentucky Hot Browns as appetizers and the bar included bourbon slushes, Ale-8 and a variety of Kentucky bourbons/wines. The wedding favors were little bears filled with local honey from my dad’s farm (Two Toms’ Game Farm) and Wildcat-themed flavors of popcorn from Paradise Popcorn. We also wanted to include our golden retriever (Teddy) in the festivities, so he made a special appearance on our wedding cake and cocktail napkins. So precious! A few other Kentucky inspirations included a Louisville Trolley for transportation, Independent Stave Company bourbon barrels, and 2 barrel heads to collect guest signatures in lieu of a book.
I also had a multitude of sentimental details sprinkled into the wedding day. I wore my grandmother’s wedding crown (“something old”) and it was also worn by my mother on her wedding day. Lance gifted me a Tiffany & Co. necklace (“something blue”) with my new initials engraved on the back and I gave him fun custom socks with Teddy and me printed on them. They turned out so cute! I have a close group of girlfriends (we call ourselves The Wolfpack) and each time one of us gets married, the previous bride passes along a handkerchief to the new bride and our initials and wedding date are added to the handkerchief (“something borrowed”). I put the handkerchief in my wedding bouquet along with a blessed rosary from the Vatican from previous family travels, and an XOXO Tiffany & Co. pin from my mom. My twinkling wedding shoes (“something new”) had to my favorite accessory with my practically-perfect-in-every-way wedding dress. I absolutely loved the intricate beading at the top of my dress and I thought it was so unique from other wedding dresses.
Our 4-tier wedding cake had 3 flavors: triple chocolate fudge, Belgium white chocolate and classic red velvet. All of them were absolutely delicious! My most memorable sight happened during our first look. I’ll never forget Lance’s charmed and excited face when he saw me in my wedding dress for the first time. My favorite sound was hearing the trumpet as my dad walked me down the aisle. It truly kicked in that I was getting married when I heard Trumpet Voluntary start to play behind the church doors. Ourfirst kiss as Mr. & Mrs. Blackwell really sealed the deal that we were officially married after 15 years of dating/engagement. It was truly an unforgettable moment that I will always cherish.
I can honestly say that we had my fairytale wedding and all the details, big and small, will be cherished forever.
