Alexandra + Michael's Barn at Cedar Grove Wedding

From the Bride: One of the things that was important to me during the planning process was having a taste of Kentucky at our wedding. Both my husband’s family and my family are from different parts of the country, so most of our guests were from out of state.

We also decided that we wanted to invest in high quality faux florals, instead of flowers that wilt after the wedding. It was so important to me that I was able to keep my bouquet. We made all of our centerpieces, boutonnières, and bouquets out of Sola Wood Flowers. My bridesmaids, my mom, and I had a floral arranging party to make everything. We were able to keep several arrangements from our big day to decorate our home. It’s a nice reminder of our wedding day when I see them.

One thing that was special to us was we both wore the same perfume and cologne that we wore on our first date. We both planned it separately and didn’t realize until much later in the day. It was a nice surprise, and reminded me of when we first fell in love. I will always remember getting to see my husband for the first time during our first look. He was standing on the porch of the groom’s cabin and all of my nerves instantly went away. Our first look was such a special moment for us.

We had Ski flavored cupcakes to celebrate being married in Greensburg, KY and caramel infused bourbon cupcakes, as well. My dad passed away when I was seventeen. The most memorable touches of the day were when I shared a dance with my mom instead of the traditional Father/Daughter dance. I remember hugging my mom so tightly after she’d grabbed a photo of my dad to dance with us. It was very emotional, but so special.
