Jessica + Tyler's Faith-Filled Wedding
From the Bride: Our wedding day was full of so many special moments and details that made it uniquely ours. From the very beginning we wanted a day that celebrated our love, our faith, and the community of friends and family that we are blessed with. Tyler and I met while working on staff at Camp Loucon and after five years of working at camp together and being friends, then ten months of dating, I said “yes” to forever with my favorite person! Our six months of wedding planning culminated in the Best Day Ever!
When choosing a design direction for our wedding, we knew we wanted something both simple and elegant. I love simple greenery and we used this both as the central floral theme and the motif on all of the invitations and paper products. I’m a designer and it was very special for me to be able to create my own custom elements for our unique day. My mom was able to incorporate these same motifs into the tulle embroidery hoop she made for the ring bearers to carry. My wedding dress was a beautiful mix of elegant and modern and I wore part of my Mom’s wedding veil as my something old.
Tyler is a pastor, as is his Dad, who beautifully performed our ceremony at church in my hometown. We are blessed with a wonderful community of friends who stood with us on our wedding day and shared their musical talents with us during the ceremony, performing songs that had been special to us from our time at camp. Sage green was our main wedding color, with accents of dusky blue and gray, and touches of gold and white at the reception. I’m passionate about the reuse of historic buildings, so having our reception in downtown Bowling Green was the perfect backdrop. With an evening reception we wanted taper candles and greenery to trail down the center of the head table, and greenery, pillar candles and votive candles to anchor the guest tables. When choosing dessert for our reception, we turned to one of our favorite foods - donuts! A custom-made board with donuts from a favorite local donut shop was one of the main attractions at the reception and they disappeared quickly! The beautifully simple wedding cake and banner topper made by my maid-of-honor summed up the day wonderfully – “Yay Love!” Guests left with “Let Love Grow” seed packets and we headed off to our honeymoon through a cascade of bubbles and well wishes.
