Megan and Andrew’s Inspired Kentucky Wedding

From the Bride: When we got engaged, ideas started flying all over the place of what our wedding would look like. We wanted the traditional wedding but we had so many non-traditional events. To honor my parents, we knew a Chinese Tea Ceremony had to be included. These are typically held with immediate family but we wanted all of our guests to experience this at least once in their lives. We had a lot of personal touches throughout the day - from a cutout of our dog, Hank, (who couldn't make it) to the fortune cookie favors to the Dippin' Dots in place of wedding cake. Manufactured in my hometown of Paducah - we knew we had to have the sweet treat. I grew up eating them, we share our love for them, and it was so different from the traditional cake. We also had Missy's Pies to accompany the party. We love all things Lexington - the horses, the university, the food! We had our engagement session at Keeneland, chose Lexington as our destination for the big day, and made sure the food reflected Kentucky with mini hot brown hors d'oeuvres and bourbon. My favorite moment of the night was our private dance at the end of the night while our guests were lining up at the sparkler exit. Andrew's favorite part of the day was when the Jordan English Band played their original song "Tanline." My advice for brides who are planning is to not worry about the small details because on our big day, I was just so happy that we were married and our closest family and friends were there that I did not focus on those small details.
