TaLaura + Jimmy's London Wedding

From the Bride: From the get-go of wedding planning, we wanted the entire day and details to be authentic to us as a couple. Our Christian faith has been a huge part of our relationship, so we wanted to convey this throughout the day as much as we could. For our unity ceremony, we had our officiant (who is also our church pastor) lead us in communion. My cousin sang one of our favorite worship songs during this, “The Blessing” by Kari Jobe. It was such a sweet moment that I’ll never forget.

As far as intricate details go, I had a specific vision for florals that Tucker Layne nailed! Taylor Swift is my favorite artist, and I honestly wanted my florals to resemble her “Lover” album cover. For our memory table, I displayed my papaw’s Bible with my nanny’s rings tied to the bookmark ribbon, as well as portraits of Jimmy’s father. When deciding on our wedding food, it was an easy decision – Mexican! We had our local Mexican restaurant cater and it was delicious. They had chips and salsa as appetizers on the tables for all of our guests, with unlimited queso too! We’ve had many dates eating at this restaurant in our hometown, so it was very special to have them cater our wedding.

Our reception was so much fun. To start, we had our DJ announce our bridal party as though they were being introduced as the starting lineup for a basketball game. We are huge sports fans. My husband and I wrote a funny sentence about each bridal party member and the DJ read it during each entrance. Everyone was laughing and we loved poking some fun at our friends. We danced our first dance to “Lover” by Taylor Swift. After the father-daughter dance, we had something very exciting planned – my sister was going to get engaged! I had our DJ announce that there would be a “sibling’s dance” just as an excuse to get my sister and her soon-to-be fiancé on the dance floor alone. Around the middle of the song, me and my husband stopped dancing and backed away, and then Connor got down on one knee and popped the question! Being able to share my wedding day with my sister is something I’m so grateful for. We celebrated and danced all night long!

Bride’s Advice: Do not sweat the small stuff! In the end, no one is going to care or notice the details besides you. It doesn’t matter how big your centerpieces are or the font of your signage. It is best to be present in the moment and enjoy the day with your partner, family, and friends!
