Sydney + Daniel's Flemingsburg Wedding
From the Bride: Thinking back on the most perfect day of my life, I still get butterflies. Not only was the day itself perfect, but the entire weekend was filled with so much fun, love, and everlasting memories. You see, my husband and I have a hilarious and slightly awkward story of how we met. Two Kentuckians, who met all they way across the ocean in Germany. The Army sometimes has a funny way of bringing people into your life, in the craziest ways, and sometimes in the strangest places. Anyways, much like my husband, I have also met many of my closest friends, who we now consider family in some of those crazy, strange times. So when it was time to find our wedding party... they were located all over the map (literally). Then add a world-wide pandemic and the bridal stress begins. However, it all worked out perfectly. From Kansas to Maryland to even Paraguay, my bridesmaids quarantined and traveled to stand beside me on my big day. Having all my people, in the same house, for 48 hours was truly a dream come true.
I, however, was not what would normally be considered a normal bride. My bride friends, family, and most other brides would obsess over every detail from colors, to flowers, to themes, and etc., but not I. I solely trusted in my fantastic wedding coordinator and my amazing mother to make our day a fairytale. To be honest, I had no knowledge of the colors (other than the color of my bridesmaid dress and the tux colors), the flowers, or anything else until the day of. I have the type of personality that struggles making decisions so add in the normal wedding planning chaos, and then a world-wide pandemic in the middle of it all, so I just decided to leave it all to the professionals. And it was the second best decision I made, other than marrying my best friend.
My most memorable touch from our wedding day was my mom and dad both holding my arms as they walked me down the aisle. Daniel’s favorite memory of our wedding ... he would definitely say something insanely sweet and romantic like seeing me for the first time all day when I walked down the aisle because he's the most thoughtful person I know. And, I would agree because that was my most favorite sight - that, and our sweet daughter smiling beside him - ear-to-ear! However, he would also follow it up immediately by trying to make a joke and saying, "when I finally got to sit down to eat and have a beer." Speaking of eating - the chicken and sauce was something I still crave to this day and the smell of the wine (we were married at a winery) is a smell i now associate with our big day! I will never be able to hear POWER by Kanye West again without seeing our wedding parties reception entry dances.
