Sophia + Liam's Louisville Wedding

From the Bride: Attention to detail! Planning my wedding, I wanted to make sure every aspect was purposeful. Marrying my amazing groom was the highlight, but in terms of wedding details, my dress was my favorite part. My dress was a beautiful off white with Mocha undertones and had a beautiful long train. The sleeves were actually an addition to the dress because I so badly wanted sleeves that fit the autumn season. Additionally, my flower girl dress was a highlight! I searched and searched for a dress that looked similar to mine. I finally found one on Etsy and my niece looked like a little princess. One of the most bittersweet parts of the wedding was honoring my Granny who had recently and unexpectedly passed. A family friend had a piece of fabric embroidered in my Granny’s handwriting from a past letter that read “Love you, Granny.” The fabric was pinned underneath my dress so I could carry her with me throughout the day. We also reserved a seat for her in the front row with her picture. Instead of handing my bouquet to my maid of honor, I handed it to my mom and she placed it in my Granny’s seat. It was a moment that made me feel like she was still involved in the wedding. No one was more excited about this wedding than her and I made sure she still got to be a part of it.

The color palette I chose was also very unique. I know white, light, and airy are pretty traditional colors for a wedding, but I absolutely love dark, romantic, fall colors. The florals in this pallet made for stunning center pieces, bouquets, and decorations as they were so bold and unique! I also asked my photographer if she could take and edit my photos in a deeper/romantic way. I wanted every detail from start to finish to match my vision.

What many of our guests loved at the end of the night was our “late night snack.” We had done the formal cocktail hour, delicious plated dinner, and cake, but after a night of dancing and talking we offered our guest sliders. Many of our guest said that the sliders gave them just enough more energy to want to stay dancing and carrying on instead of ending the evening earlier.

Bride’s Advice: Enjoy the process and make it your own. The wedding planning will get stressful, but do not make decisions based on what you’re “supposed to do.” The day is whatever you want to make of it, so if you don’t want to do something traditional, don’t! Make your wedding look and feel like all the things you love. I reminded myself often that the most important part was by the end of the day I was going to get to spend the rest of my life with my now husband, everything else that would come with it was just a bonus.
