Sierra + Michael's Lawrenceburg Wedding

From the Bride: So many things went into the planning of our big day! When we toured The Barn at McCall Springs we just knew that was the perfect place. It was so important that our wedding really reflect us and our relationship. I had a vision of a classic, timeless indoor/outdoor summer wedding. Light, romantic and bright. Classy, but at a barn. The venue and the vision were such a great mixture of our personalities, it was perfect for us. The guys looked so dapper in black tuxes and the bridesmaids were stunning in their blush pink off-the-shoulder tulle dresses. Our little boy, Brody, stole the show in his little black tux. He still asks to wear it to school post-wedding because he was so handsome! Our wedding planner took my vision and inspiration and executed it flawlessly. We got married under the pavilion which was covered in greenery and stunning blush pink and white floral arrangements. We had a logo that we used on our invitation, and throughout our wedding signage. It was a hot day so we had fans made for our guests that included the same logo and theme of our other signage. Our logo featured an MS for Michael and Sierra. On bookshelves behind the bars, we had picture frames filled with photos of our dogs, Woodford, Willa and Waylon, which were also featured on our wedding koozies, and family photos. It really pulled everything together!

We opted for 2 flower guys instead of flower girls for our ceremony. 2 of our best friends were so excited for their role and gave an amazing performance walking down the aisle! It was so fun and the one non-traditional thing we were so excited for during our ceremony.

Michael’s cousin, Taylor Sterry, is an artist and painted our little family (including our dogs) on a large white wooden Kentucky sign. We used this for our guest book and absolutely loved it!

We rented furniture for 2 seating areas under our tent that included blush pink couches! It was a beautiful and functional way to elevate the tent, where half of our guests were seated for the reception. It was perfect for photo ops and a place to sit after dancing the night away. It was very popular and honestly one of my favorite things!

Michael and I met at Drakes so it was only fitting that the Drakes Food Truck catered our wedding. We featured a happy hour with amazing appetizer baskets filled with sriracha wings, fried pickles, pretzels with beer cheese and the famous Lexingtonian Salad. Dinner featured mini burgers or mini BLT baskets and fries. The food was great and so easy! People raved about how unique the food truck was all night.

We loved our wedding cake! It was 3 large tiers of almond vanilla cake with a large waterfall of florals down the front. Getting Michael a groom's cake was really important to me! Michael and his dad do a pheasant hunting trip so South Dakota each year, so I had one of our favorite local bakers make an amazing 3 tier marble pheasant hunting cake for him. Even the 3d details at the top of the cake were edible. It was amazing and he loved it!

We wanted our seating chart to be unique, so our wedding planner had the idea to do it on white columns. We had columns set up on both sides of the barn as guests entered from the ceremony and had the table numbers and names hand-painted on them. The small floral arrangements, greenery, and all of the candles made them even more breathtaking! They were one of my favorite things from our wedding day.

For a wedding gift, Michael gave me 2 Created bracelets. One was inscribed with our names and wedding date and the other was a twisted bracelet featuring 3 different gold twists. One for me, one for Michael, and one for Brody showing that from this day forward our 3 lives become one. It was so thoughtful and truly the best gift! I got Michael a pocket knife that said husband and monogrammed suspenders.

Our favorite part of the wedding: Our officiant, Jon Weece, asked us weeks prior to the wedding to each write him a paragraph about why we wanted to marry one another. We were instructed not to show or tell what we wrote to each other so we did not. During our ceremony, Jon read off parts of each of our letters unexpectedly. I got to hear in Michaels's own words all the reasons he wanted to marry me and he got to hear in my own words all the reasons I wanted to marry him. It was so pure and just so dang sweet! Our most memorable sight was walking back down that aisle after being pronounced and looking at the faces of all of our favorite people- friends and family clapping, smiling and being so dang happy for us! Having our 5 year old little boy, Brody tell us "Happy Wedding Day” was our favorite sound of the day. We were engaged for a year and a half due to covid and Brody was counting day the day until the big wedding day. He was thrilled for "mom and dad' to get married and at our first family look he wrote us a little card that said happy wedding day and told us. It was magical!

We danced the night away and ended the night with a glow stick exit! Our wedding party and out-of-town guests loaded up in a party bus and were taken back to Downtown Lexington where everyone stayed!
