Sidney + Landon's London Wedding
From the Bride: Our wedding was unique because it was literally built from the ground up. After our engagement in June of 2021, Landon and I began the search for wedding venues in and around our hometown of London, KY. We quickly discovered that our options would be limited, and with the amount of guests that we wanted to attend we needed to start thinking outside of the box.
Landon's sister-in-law (Jessica Bray) had recently began operating a flower farm at their home and offered it up as a venue (almost jokingly) since the property had plenty of open space. In August of 2021 Landon and I decided to give the idea a chance and see if we could essentially create our own wedding venue. At the time, we didn't realize how much needed to happen in 9 short months but we quickly found out. Everything from sowing new grass and flattening the earth (to avoid any possible trips) to creating parking spaces and building the ceremony arch was done by myself, Landon and our family.
In addition to countless hours spent prepping the wedding-site, even more hours were put into the decorations and details. Through thrifting, bargain hunting, and many meetings in Jessica's kitchen, we finally settled on how to make my vision possible. Although the details were probably the most stressful part of planning this wedding, one detail was very simple; Donna Vandy, who has made my birthday cakes for 25 years, would absolutely make my wedding cake (White Cake with Raspberry Filling). On the day of the wedding as I saw guests filing in to sign the guest book placed on Landon's Grandmother's sewing table, I realized all the work was worth it.
Bride’s Advice: For each big "to do" checked off of the wedding planning list celebrate with a date night or special treat. It's easy to get caught up in the stress of planning a wedding and forget about the joys and excitement of marriage, don't let this happen, celebrate all the way to the aisle.
