Shelby + Ryan's Milton Wedding
From the Bride: When Ryan and I embarked on the journey of planning our wedding, we faced the challenge of uniting our families scattered across the United States. Wanting a venue that would not only accommodate our diverse guest list but also offer a memorable experience, my mom discovered Richwood on the River in Milton, Kentucky. It was love at first sight. With overnight accommodations for 50 guests and proximity to Madison, IN, it was the perfect setting. Colleen Sutton, our Venue Coordinator, added to the appeal, and renting the entire venue for the weekend allowed us to host multiple enjoyable events beyond the wedding itself.
Despite the adage that no wedding day is perfect, ours came remarkably close. Over the eight months of meticulous planning, we kept the notion in mind, yet the day unfolded flawlessly. Even unpredictable weather couldn't dampen the magic, as a stormy morning gave way to the most picturesque August day. The inclusion of personal touches, such as skeet shooting for the groom made our wedding day unique and unforgettable for us. Our decision to incorporate family and friends as vendors further enriched the experience, and for those who weren’t we created lasting connections.
In our pursuit of an elegant and timeless wedding, attention to detail became a priority. From the exquisite floral arrangements capturing the essence of our vision to the last-minute addition of the guest-favorite live painting by Alli Lynn Art, every element contributed to the charm of our day. Dining with Gabor exceeded expectations, providing not just a meal but an extraordinary culinary experience. The event was tailored for our guests' comfort, from a charming trolley transporting them to and from the hotel to a thoughtful welcome letter outlining event details and schedules. As an added touch, guests were welcomed with champagne upon arriving at the ceremony. The resounding positives from our friends and family revolve around the venue, the delectable food, our love story, and, of course, the Bride's Signature Drink—a Bee's Knees—paired with the Groom's preferred cocktail, an Old Fashioned crafted with Buffalo Trace, epitomizing our commitment to every detail of our special day.
Bride’s Advice: While navigating the intricacies of wedding planning, it's crucial to savor the journey alongside your partner. Amidst the stress, I found solace in reminding myself that a wedding day is precisely that – a day devoted to celebrating the union with the love of my life. Ultimately, everything else paled in comparison to the joy of marrying my soulmate.
