Grace + Caleb's Lexington Wedding

From the Bride: The day after we got engaged, I started browsing the web and came across the Apiary and fell in love. A week later, we drove to Lexington, took a tour and secured a date. We loved that it needed minimal decor and the fresh garden was everything I had ever dreamed of! With our families and most of our friends coming from out of town, we knew Lexington would be the perfect place to show them what Kentucky is all about! Before our welcome party, we took guests on a horse farm and distillery tour which was so special and a great way to see everyone before the wedding so we could enjoy the ceremony and reception without having to worry about saying hello to every guest!

Details are everything to me, so when we began the wedding planning process, I knew I wanted to make the day as detailed as possible! One of the most special parts of our day was having Kayla Weber do a live painting. We have been big fans of hers for years now and we even chose our wedding date around her availability (along with our photographers and videographer)! I also loved having a band and a string quartet to make the environment more timeless. Some of my other favorite details were our custom drink stirrers of our three dogs in our custom drinks along with custom napkins, the desert bar, the linens which were a pearl color (I love pearls and wanted to tie them in somehow) and the plates which had a small gold detail. The Tiffany bracelet that I wore was also special because my Dad got my mom and I matching ones to wear throughout the wedding planning process and it complimented my engaged ring, which was my great-grandmothers that was passed down to me.

We opted out of a cake for a dessert bar! Neither of us are big fans of cake, so we decided a dessert bar was more our style. We had everything from chocolate chip cookies, to mini key lime pies and macaroons! We included GF options for guests with food allergies so they didn't have to miss out on all of the fun- we wanted everyone to feel included in everything as much as possible! We danced our first dance to “You're Still The One” by Shania Twain (this felt appropriate after 9 years together)!

Bride’s Advice: I received some great advice from friends and family, but throughout the entire planning process I realized that every wedding is different and everyone’s priorities are different, so we focused on what was most important to us and stayed true to that. If I could give advice to anyone planning a wedding, it would be to not compare your wedding to others because everyone has different priorities, budgets, aesthetics, etc. and staying true to yours vision is what makes your big day unique!
