Sallee + Corey's Berea Wedding

From the Bride: I have never seen a sky bluer than the one on November 11th, and I've never had such a feeling of calm as we got ready that morning. The groomsmen spent the evening prior to the wedding at a beautiful cabin in Estill County while the ladies shared champagne and enjoyed chick flicks at a local Airbnb. As the day-of progressed, preparations were in full swing and everyone fell into a seamless rhythm...before we knew it, we were ready to say I Do!

Corey and I always knew that we wanted our wedding to be a true reflection of who we are as a couple. Unexpected, Traditional, Romantic Glam were the moods and themes we had envisioned. Not only did we try to put our own thumbprint on all the details, but we wanted our guests (many of which hadn't seen each other in so long!) to feel welcome and "at home". From bottles of Blanton's bourbon that were shared in toasts before the ceremony, to the mini-Kentucky Hot Browns and Chicken & Waffles that were passed during our cocktail hour, to the surprise and delight of Kentucky Lottery scratch-off tickets at the reception, our wedding day was to be a celebration full of love and laughter. The results far surpassed our expectations!

Our ceremony took place at the stunning Union Church in Berea, followed by a reception at the Historic Boone Tavern Hotel. Guests were truly in for a treat at both venues and Corey and I were so happy that they were able to experience so much of Kentucky's beauty. After all, we had friends and family gather/travel across 11 states!

Our beautiful cake was designed and created by a dear family friend who has made all our cakes for holidays and special occasions. It was a simple, yet elegant white cake with white buttercream frosting. I found inspiration for Corey's Groom's "Cake" and enlisted the help of our family to execute. Corey's amazing baker cousin made the most delicious vanilla cake pop golf balls!

Corey and I heard Michael Bublé's 'You & I' on the radio pretty early on in our relationship - since then, we had always known that song had to be the first song we danced to at our wedding. We actually had the opportunity to do our dance alone, prior to guests arriving at the reception. It was such a special moment for just the two of us.

The best gift we could have received was to see everyone from all corners of our lives, having such an amazing time getting to know one another and celebrating with us. It was truly a day that we want to live over and over again!

Bride’s Advice: I was given great advice prior to starting the wedding planning, but there were things I told myself that I clung to throughout the 11 months of planning: Take it one day at a time. Be present at every shower and every party; read every card; appreciate every gift; take time to enjoy the planning phase, because it will go by so fast! And boy did it ever! I didn't want to get lost in all the noise. I wanted to ensure that this day was a day that Corey and I would remember for the rest of our lives...and I think we accomplished that.
