Macie + Jonathan's Hopkinsville Wedding
From the Bride: Our day was so special in so many ways, but the best part of it all was centering the day around just the two of us, and truly having the wedding of our dreams. Planning for an August wedding in Kentucky can be intimidating in the beginning, with lots of heat and high humidity. We were checking the weather months, weeks, and days before praying for low temps and a signature Kentucky sunset. Our prayers were answered and we were blessed with the best weekend in August that brought us perfect weather.
Our wedding day was focused on the small, thoughtful details that can be overlooked. When I started planning our wedding, I knew I wanted a timeless, elegant, and classic themed wedding. I chose an all white color palette with a hint of champagne, navy, and green. The bridesmaids’ dresses were a simple but beautiful champagne color, and were complemented by the groomsmen’s navy suits. My favorite detail from the wedding is my flowers. The bouquets were elegant white roses, while the ceremony florals consisted of a mixture of white roses, greenery, and hydrangeas. Guests were also given white rose petals that were tossed at us as we walked down the aisle as one and exited the ceremony. My florist executed my vision to perfection. Another detail that is unique to our wedding is that Jonathan's dad, Randy, was the officiant for the ceremony, which makes this his final time to officiate one of his children's wedding. He has officiated all three weddings of his children.
We danced our first dance to “Falling Like the Stars” by James Arthur. We both love desserts, especially cake, so we didn’t short ourselves or our guests on the cake. Our wedding cake was four tiers of Vanilla and Almond goodness. The Groom's cake was Strawberry with Vanilla icing. It was designed as a St. Louis Cardinals baseball jersey to represent Jonathan's love for Cardinals baseball. Our signature drinks were also given names that represented our honeymoon destination and our favorite team. My signature cocktail was named, "Pink Flamingo," to represent the flamingos in Aruba. Jonathan's signature cocktail was named, "Redbird," to represent his favorite baseball team. As guests departed the reception, they were gifted a departing wedding favor, which was wine glasses that included a decal with our names and wedding date.
Bride’s Advice: Don't second guess your decisions and go with what you feel your heart is telling you. It's your day, you only get to live it once, make it however you dreamt it would be.
