Kyla + Brady's Argillite Wedding
From the Bride: We chose to read our vows before the ceremony because we were both intimidated by the idea of reading vows in front of the crowd, but it was still important that we didn't see each other until the ceremony. We chose to read our vows to one another standing back to back so we wouldn't ruin the surprise, but still be able to have that intimate moment between just the two of us. I loved hearing Brady declare his vows.
My most memorable sight from our wedding was walking down the aisle and seeing all the rose petals laid out before me. I saved and dried all the flower petals of every bouquet Brady had ever given me from when he first asked me to be his girlfriend up until the proposal. It was so special to walk across nearly four years worth of special memories that led me to my future husband. These are the same petals used in our detail shots of our rings and stationery!
I purchased a new perfume to use as my 'signature wedding scent'. I only wore this perfume for wedding related activities such as engagement photos, bridal showers, the rehearsal dinner, and of course the wedding. Now whenever I wear that perfume for date nights or special occasions, it instantly takes me back to that day and all the love I felt.
Hitch was the highlight of our reception! It was a retired horse trailer (a little nod to our Bluegrass roots) turned mobile bar. It was the perfect backdrop for pictures and made it so easy for everyone on the dance floor to run and quickly grab a drink without having to go back inside. We also had the drinks served in custom cups with sketches of our two rescue chihuahuas, Max & Otis. These doubled as a favor and guests were able to take them home! We ultimately decided on serving sangrias as our drink of choice because it felt like an autumn staple. Our AMAZING bartender, Lee, from Hitch WV surprised me the day of the wedding with a special 'Kyla' sangria just for me only that he had made using tequila (my favorite drink) and colored it pink (my favorite color)! I danced father/daughter dance with my grandpa and towards the end I was so emotional that all I could do was squeeze him as hard as I could. I was raised by my grandparents since the age of four when my father passed away in a sudden accident. My grandpa is very much became the person I look to as a father so to share in that moment was very bittersweet. I was crushed I wasn't able to share that moment with my dad, but I also felt overwhelmingly blessed to have someone in my life who loved me enough to step into that role.
Instead of a traditional cake we had a dessert buffet bar that consisted of cookies, cupcakes, chocolate strawberries, and other small treats that people were able to put in personalized goody bags so they could enjoy while they were there or pack a bag for the road.
It was very important to us that we felt like our guests were able to feel personally connected to us and our love story, so we thought a fun way to include them on our journey was by offering 'infographic' style programs where we included our favorite and least favorite parts of planning, where our guests had traveled from, how long we've been together, and more.
We did a photo booth guestbook where our guests took selfies in front of our last name neon sign with a Polaroid camera. They were able to stick their picture to the page along with their well wishes! The wedding day was such a whirlwind so it was so nice to be able to review the guest book after the wedding and see faces of people we didn't get to talk to or family members that we weren't able to get photos taken with. It's something that we will forever cherish!
