Katie + Taylor's Winchester Wedding

From the Bride: Daddy and I were scheduled to walk down the aisle at 5:30pm...at 5:00pm it began to pour the rain. And when I tell you it was pouring, I mean it was raining sideways. It was lightning. The linens were blowing off the tables. Our glassware was shattering on the pavement. Umbrellas by the pool were flying across the yard. Daddy was pulling the caterers out of the mud and scrambling to cover his Convertible Corvette that was to be our getaway car. It was a disaster.

We sent everyone inside to begin cocktail hour in hopes that the storm would pass quickly. Everyone kept trying to convince us to just move the ceremony inside the garage, that the storm wasn’t going to let up any time soon. But that wasn’t my vision! It finally stopped lightning and the rain weakened. — We were going to get married in the rain. Thankfully, I had ordered a box of clear umbrellas just a few days prior that I hoped I wouldn’t need but would have on hand, just in case.

Daddy and I walked down the aisle at 7:05pm. It was still raining. And it couldn’t have been more perfect! The rain added the most romantic touch. It made for the most memorable day, and the most beautiful photos I could have asked for. In the end it didn’t matter how perfectly I had planned every detail because they ended up either broken or soaking wet! What I remember most is the patience and love from my family, friends, and fiancé helping to ease the anxiety and offer comfort during a time of high stress. We are still getting compliments on how beautiful, memorable and fun our wedding was!

Bride’s Advice: Wedding planning takes a lot of time and hard work. I decided to plan my entire wedding myself and hire a Day of Coordinator to help on Wedding Day. Just know that something WILL go wrong. No matter how perfect your designs, itinerary, Pinterest board, outfits, etc... not everything will go as planned! The best advice I can give is to know that setbacks will happen, and you can’t be in control of everything. Even with an uninvited rain storm intruding on our wedding day, we managed to enjoy the day fully and ended up making the best memories in the process. Just remember… The show must go on!
