Katie + Logan's Louisville Wedding
From the Bride: Our wedding day was simply a dream. Having the ceremony + reception at the same location was HUGE for us . Our venue provided the quintessential timeless Louisville feel we were looking for. My day started in the bridal suite with breakfast and mimosas provided by my uncle (who is a true chef!). One big theme of the wedding was hydrangeas- so my bridesmaids wore white pajamas with blue hydrangeas and used hydrangea Corkcicle cups I gifted! We had the absolute best playlist so the vibes were always light and fun. I absolutely loved the "getting ready" portion of the day. My mom, mother-in-law and bridesmaids kept me at ease and having fun. One of my favorite parts was of course my dress reveal. Outside of my mom and sister, no one had seen my dress! My now niece was the first one to see me that day. I also asked my aunt Julie to be part of girl’s first look as she is such a special person in my life.
Our ceremony was short, sweet, and sentimental and perfect for us. One of the top memories from that day is having a little sweetheart time directly after the ceremony where just Logan and I returned back to the suite where our planner had our favorite drinks and appetizers waiting for us. We could finally decompress and have a true moment together as husband and wife.
Our first dance was genuinely hysterical. We took a dance lesson where we learned simple steps. As soon as the song started, Logan completely blanked. We were cracking up because we kept trying to get back in sync and it never happened! We also still laugh at Logan's dad who I asked to do the prayer. He decided to really make it his own and gave the most funny impromptu speech that Logan was embarrassed by but I was in tears laughing at.
One of my favorite touches of our wedding was also our photo backdrop. We did an all white feather wall that we felt was unique but also fitting to the venue!
Potentially the most emotional moment of the day was when I had the DJ surprise my mom with a song all for her, myself, and my sister. I had him do a small shoutout to get her on the dance floor before playing Sherry Baby (her name is Cheri haha) by the Four Seasons. Logan and friends ended up joining in on the fun too. This was special as my mom was such a huge help in wedding planning that I wanted a moment for her and I since the Dad always gets the walk down the aisle + the dance! We danced our first dance to “You” by Dan + Shay (the acoustic version).
Our departure from the ceremony was so fun and SO us! We are both huge football fans so we provided UofL (his team) and Alabama (my team) pom poms for everyone to shake as they lined the stairs. We took an old vintage car that had champagne waiting for us that then dropped us off at Hotel Repeal :) sorry so hard to pick all the fun, little joyful moments from this day!
Bride’s Advice: Surround yourself with people who really know you and love you (family, friends, but also planner & photographer) so they can help you not to stress over the little things/decisions (coming from someone very indecisive). Soak up every second. all the planning and, of course, the day-of too!
