Katherine + William's Lexington Wedding

From the Bride: Our wedding was a true mix of tradition and elegance. The weekend started with a rehearsal dinner at Dudley's on Short. The room was filled with pictures of the us from birth to now. Along with the pictures the room was filled with exquisite white and pink flowers. During this time the family and friends gave sentimental speeches, which made the night unforgettable. After the Rehearsal dinner the guests in town were invited to come to a Welcome Party at Belle's Cocktail House thrown by the groom's aunts. We were able to mingle and say hi to everyone before the big day. The room was filled with excitement and love for the next day.

The bridesmaids stayed in a local AirBNB downtown called the Statesmen. This was an elegant and traditional location to add to the experience of the weekend. We were then transported to the Lexington Country Club by my father for our hair and makeup. While we were getting ready, Will and the groomsmen played golf and sipped on some Kentucky bourbon. The first look with my father is one thing I will always cherish. Then my first look with my husband was filled with magic and so many emotions. It made it more memorable that both of our families were watching.

The ceremony started and everything was a dream. Walking down the aisle my dad looked at me and said "slow down, take this moment in" I did and I will never forget that moment. Our ceremony was so special having one of Will's closest friends officiate the wedding, Sam Wilson. Sam was able to add sweet touches from both my family and Will's. After the ceremony guests were brought to cocktail hour which was partly inside and out. They were able to mingle and get the signature drinks (The Kitty and A Keeneland Breeze) while they waited to be seated for dinner.

When dinner started, two sets of double doors opened to a beautiful ballroom filled with white baby’s breath and gold accents. Guests looked at large antique gold mirrors to find their table numbers. We were announced from the balcony as "Kiss" by Prince played. When the song ended we danced our fiirst dance to "More of You" by Chris Stapleton. As we danced the light shined into the ballroom, which brought a feeling of past loved ones being with us. It was a breathtaking moment. The Company Band played old and new hits that kept everyone on the dance floor all night long. Then with a dress change everyone left and it was just the photographer and couple. We had a private final dance that will forever be my FAVORITE part of the wedding. Just the two of us danced to "Lifetime" by Justin Bieber. In that moment we both realized we were married and were able to slow down to take in that moment. We then exited through to our vintage convertible car through a sparkler send-off and left for our after party. What a beautiful night that we will never forget.

Bride’s Advice: A piece of advice I wish someone had told me when wedding planning is to take your time and let people help. The more people you have in your corner to help, the easier it is for you to relax on your wedding day. This process should be fun and not stressful, so taking your time is crucial.
