Kaity + Camren's Lexington Wedding

Camren and I began dating in high school when he asked me to the homecoming dance and even though we both went to different colleges - him to Morehead State and me to UK - we stayed together. After living apart for so long, we both now live in Lexington and we knew that we wanted to showcase our new hometown for our wedding. Camren is originally from Louisiana and while I'm a native Kentuckian, a lot of my family are in Michigan and Florida so we wound up treating our wedding weekend like a destination wedding knowing that almost everyone would be coming in from out of town.

We wanted to go in a little different direction than most central Kentucky weddings and really focus on the downtown Lexington vibe. We began by commissioning an original pastel watercolor of the Lexington skyline which my mom, a stationery designer, used as an envelope liner for our invitation suite to make the perfect first impression. She then carried that same watercolor, along with a custom modern monogram over to all of our printed materials like menus, programs, and welcome bag inserts, as well as our website to give the whole wedding weekend a really cohesive look and feel.

My dad's one request during the whole wedding planning process was that we chose a location that we could have both the ceremony and the reception in the same place. With our focus being downtown, the Mane on Main was the perfect choice. The view was amazing and especially after dark with the city lit up all around us - it was amazing! As far as colors I knew I wanted pink and when my floral designer asked, "what shade of pink?" I answered, "all of them!" and that is exactly what she gave me. Flowers, tablecloths, even the champagne glasses - all pink! I wanted each of my bridesmaids to choose her own dress and shade of pink and they each chose the perfect dress for themselves.

Along with all pink everything, a few of our favorite details were our Signature Cocktails - Bourbonade for the Bride and Mayhaw Margaritas for the Groom - and custom drink stirrers with our corgi, Cheddar's face on them. And instead of having one cake, we decided to have a cake bar with the main cake featuring hand painted flowers inspired by our invitations sitting on its own pink bar with the real-life Lexington skyline in the background. The flavors were Champagne & Strawberry for the main cake and Pistachio, Chocolate Bourbon, and Traditional Almond for the side cakes. We danced our first dance to “Baby, I'm Yours” by the Arctic Monkeys.

After dating for 8.5 years, Camren and I both just wanted to celebrate all weekend with our family and friends and from our private brunch with just our parents on Friday morning until the last guest left from our farewell brunch on Sunday, that is exactly what we got. I honestly can't think of one thing I would change!

Bride’s Advice: Something will definitely go wrong on your wedding day, but don't stress because 99.9% of the time none of the guests will even notice.
