Annie + Cameron's Lexington Wedding!

From the Bride: Cameron and I agreed from the beginning that we wanted a timeless, black-tie wedding that reflected our values and would give our guests an unforgettable experience. We met on the first day of law school at the University of Kentucky, and with me being a Lexington-native and Cameron (and his entire family) having gone to undergrad at UK, we knew we wanted to get married in Lexington. Our rehearsal dinner was at Mane on Main and overlooked downtown and UK’s campus at sunset. Cameron and I love some friendly competition, so after the rehearsal dinner, we hosted a welcome party for all of our guests at District 7 Social Hall in the Distillery District where we bowled and enjoyed craft cocktails.

The Apiary was the clear choice for our wedding ceremony and reception! We wanted our ceremony to reflect our commitment to our faith—a long-time family friend and ordained minister, Taylor Combs, led the ceremony, and Cameron and I said “I do” in front of a wooden cross that my uncle spent hours carefully building for us. Other special details included the blue ribbon around my bouquet, which was from my late grandmother’s wedding dress, and the pearl, butterfly crown atop my veil, which my other grandmother and mother each wore on their wedding days.

After the ceremony, our guests enjoyed cocktail hour in the gardens—one of my favorite things about the is how it feels like a secret garden! The reception was perfect and demonstrated attention to every detail from the exquisite food and wine pairings to the synchronized table service. Our phenomenal band, Best Kept Secret, kept guests of all ages on the dance floor all night long and it was such a fun party! Cameron and I danced our first dance to “Fly Me To The Moon” by Frank Sinatra and ended the night with a private dance to “That’s How Strong My Love Is” by Otis Redding while our guests lined the exit with sparklers. We drove away in a vintage white Bentley feeling so loved and grateful for the people who made everything come together so beautifully!

Bride’s Advice: Savor the time you get to spend with the people helping you plan! My mom went above and beyond to help me in any way she could, and wedding planning gave me an excuse (not that I needed one) to spend extra quality time with her. The same was true of my best friend and maid of honor who lives in another state! Also, savor that time with your future spouse. An engagement is a season of anticipation and planning for the future, but don’t forget to enjoy the present and last few months of “dating” with your person!
