Amanda + Preston's Owensboro Wedding

From the Bride: Looking back at our wedding day, there are so many unique elements that represent both Preston and myself. To start, our reception was located off of the Ohio river, next to the illuminating Blue Bridge, an emblem for the city of Owensboro. When inside dining and dancing, you could easily glance out the floor to ceiling windows to catch the changing colorful lights of the bridge. If taking a break outside on the balcony, the reflections of the glimmering full moon and bridge lights joined together dancing in the river tide. Our reception consisted of lit up tambourines that portray Preston and I’s love for dancing and singing no matter how off key or rhythm we are. The tambourines were perfect for those who love to boogie and for those who need something to do with their hands while on the dance floor. This night was also made special for me because our caterer prepared my family’s raised Angus beef as the entree. Growing up on a beef cattle farm, I have a love for agriculture and admiration for the profession. I always hoped to meet someone who equally admired agriculture and wanted to take part in it, luckily I found Preston. Taking pictures on my family’s farm and serving our guests with prime products represented my roots well.

Preston and I are still in awe of how many family and friends attended our wedding celebration. It was so special to see people from different parts of our lives come together. Our immediate family, extended family, and friends from all phases of our childhood into college made our celebration special! We also included passed family members with our memorial table at the reception venue. It was the little details I wanted to consider. For instance, we were able to include Preston’s younger sister, who passed away at a young age, into our ceremony by allowing his older sister to carry a picture fastened ornately to the bouquet she carried while walking down the aisle.

Lastly, Preston and I were blessed to make our sacrament of marriage with the celebration of a Catholic Mass. We made our vows before God and this changed our lives forever. Our faith brought us together and is something that has kept us together. We know our marriage life must be rooted in faith to prepare for the good times and the bad. So yes, all in all the things that make Preston, Preston and the things that make me, me were well combined throughout our wedding as a true symbol for us joining as one.

Bride’s Advice: The months leading up to the wedding will be hectic, but take time to spend quality time with your fiancee. Don't forget to cherish this season of life together and learn more about one another as you discuss details of your wedding to equally represent you both.
