Madison + Evan's Joyous and Bold Wedding

From the Bride: My groom and I agree that our favorite wedding day moment was praying together before the ceremony. With our eyes closed, I hugged Evan’s back and he prayed the sweetest prayer over our marriage and what we wanted the rest of our lives to look like. It was important to the both of us that we not have a first look and that the first time Evan saw me would be when I was walking down the aisle towards him. Being able to hold hands, hug, and pray before the ceremony was special because it set the tone for the rest of the day and calmed the nerves that we were both feeling.

We planned the day to highlight some of our favorite memories that we shared together. We had a family style pasta dinner to commemorate the many family dinners that we have cherished in our four years together as well as the time we spent across the pond in Italy. Evan and I spent our entire four years dating in two different cities, so having meals to spend time together and with the ones we loved were pivotal to growing closer with a desire to marry each other. Coffee has also always been a huge part of our relationship as Evan has used it to keep him awake on the many drives both to and from Lexington. We also love to go on dates to coffee shops, unplug from the world, drink delicious coffee, and play cards. Therefore, it was only fitting to have coffee wedding favors. Our guests were given bags of coffee beans at the end of the night with an emblem that simply said “Let Love Brew.”

Evan and I also value reflection. Not only did we want to create an environment that would allow our guests to reflect on the impact that they had on our relationship but we also wanted to create an environment where, at the end of the night, we were able to reflect on every moment that led up to this one. Therefore, at the end of the night, we asked our DJ to clear the dance floor for one last bride and groom dance to one of our favorite songs “Brand New” by Ben Rector. We have seen this artist at least once every year that we have been together and listening to his music slowly became “our thing.” We asked our DJ to play this specific song and usher everyone outside to line up for the big exit, all while Evan and I were having a moment alone on the dance floor reflecting on what brought us together, how in the world we got to be in a wedding gown and suit, and who was there to encourage us every step of the way. It truly was an unforgettable moment.
