Ella + Ben's Charming Bohemian Wedding

From the Bride: We were high school sweethearts and were both born and raised in Kentucky. The theme of our wedding was a bohemian vintage theme which perfectly fit in with the classic look of our venue, which was chosen because of its history and charm. The main house is on the National Register of Historic Places. The back drop for the ceremony was completely hand made macrame and the bridesmaids held embroidery hoops decorated to be their bouquets. The tiny cottage that was the backdrop for the ceremony is actually three stories high and one of the original structures on the property.

Cocktail hour was served in the main house and featured a giant charcuterie table before dinner was served in the barn. I danced with my grandfather, Dr. Jim Martin, to the Tennessee Waltz the way I did when I was a little girl standing on his toes. We had four flavors of cupcakes for the guests to choose from. One flavor was chocolate bourbon with red icing on top made with the Kentucky classic Maker’s Mark for the groom and my favorite fall flavor was also a cupcake flavor, S’mores.

My favorite wedding day moment: While saying our vows, Ben said “I do” before it was time to say it because he was so set on getting it exactly right and the pastor said “I’m not done yet” and we all had a good laugh. Also, experiencing the man I danced with in my prom dress five years ago was now twirling me around in a wedding gown. Such a surreal and amazing moment.

Ben’s favorite wedding day moment: The first look. “I couldn’t believe how much has changed in just a short 5 years and how deep my love for her has become. Turning around and seeing how beautiful she looked just put the biggest smile on my face. I have never felt more blessed.”
