Amanda + Michael's Timeless Wedding

From the Bride: When my fiance’ and I began planning our wedding, we never dreamed the day we chose for our wedding would end up being 105 degrees! Even though the temperature was sweltering, the day couldn’t have been more perfect. Our ceremony was at The Cathedral of Christ the King. CTK holds a special place in my heart as it was where I went to school growing up. I remember going to Mass as a student and thinking about one day getting married there - though I never dreamed I’d be marrying someone as thoughtful, intelligent, funny, and humble as Mike. When we were searching for reception venues, we were swept away with the stunning views of downtown Lexington that our venue provided and knew that it would be the perfect place for our reception. We focused on finding an awesome DJ, making sure there would be great food, and creating festive signature drinks (“the Kentuckian” and “the Michigander”- to pay homage to our home states) because above all, we wanted our guests to have an amazing experience.

Because the view at our venue is absolutely spectacular, we wanted to let the sunset that evening be the focal point and keep the decor elegant and simple. On our tables, we used greenery and votives with floating candles as centerpieces. I had been practicing stylized cursive hand-lettering and wanted to attempt making all of our wedding signage on clear sheets of acrylic. It was definitely a task, but I was so pleased with how they turned out and have had a few girls ask me if I could make some for their weddings! I cannot say enough good things about every single one of our wedding vendors who made our day unforgettable and helped to make me feel like the epitome of a “Kentucky Bride”!

My favorite moment of the day was our first dance. We had just arrived at the reception venue, been introduced as a couple, and went straight into our first dance. Being together and looking around it was such a special moment to see all of our favorite people in one place to celebrate such a happy moment for us. It truly meant so much.
