Taylor + McKenzie's Vintage Farm Wedding

From the Bride: Our wedding was a true dream come true. Being born and raised in Kentucky, we knew we wanted to have a true country wedding. We are both from a small town in eastern Kentucky with very few wedding venue options. Which is why we took a drive towards central Kentucky to find the perfect location to exchange our vows. We had big plans that involved a multitude of family and friends with a guest list of 300+ people. We had one year and 6 months to plan our wedding, and 2 months to change the wedding. When covid-19 came to the United States we knew our wedding plans were going to change. We had to cut the guest list down to close family and our bridal party only and provide masks for the guests. But, in the end it was the small and intimate wedding that we never knew we needed. Everything about our day was absolutely perfect.

Throughout the day while I was getting ready my husband had cards delivered to me numbered 1-6 with gifts attached to them. It was the sweetest thing and I will cherish them forever. The first card came with a large iced coffee to get my day started. The second gift came with a wood photo with the dates of "our love story." The date we started dating (the first day), the date we got engaged (the “yes “day), and our wedding date (the best day). The third gift was a bottle of champagne I had been searching for to drink during our toast. It was the same bottle we popped on our cruise ship after we got engaged. He had special ordered it months before the wedding to surprise me with it on our day. The fourth gift was a large wood sign that said "I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.” My great-grandmother sang this song to me when I was a little girl. The card said we will always have a piece of her in our new home together. The fifth gift was my "something blue." It was a blue heart made out of one of my grandfather’s shirts. My grandfather passed away one year ago and it broke my heart that he didn't make it to our wedding, but my husband made sure that a piece of him was with me. I pinned the heart to the inside of my wedding dress. The sixth gift was a letter my husband had wrote to me. I can truly say I have the most amazing and thoughtful husband that I could ever dream of.

After a lot of decision making, we decided to see each other before the wedding. Better known as "the first look.” It was the best decision we could have made. Before seeing each other we stood back to back and read the letters that we had written to each other. It was such a pure moment and I will never forget the outpouring of love I felt when hearing my husband read his letter to me. We were very emotional when seeing each other for the first time and we were so excited to go to the altar. After taking our photos we went our separate ways until the ceremony began. When at the altar, we read our own vows to each other. Before the day of the wedding I asked a friend to write our vows in calligraphy on two old pieces of tree that we had. It was beautiful and looked amazing on our altar. We had BBQ and dancing at the reception and it was the best day of our lives. I wouldn't change anything about our small, intimate Kentucky wedding.
