Olivia + Kasey's Southern Kentucky Wedding

From the Bride: Our wedding could not have been more of a dream come true. After getting engaged at The Biltmore House (another dream come true), I began planning almost immediately, and I knew that I had a very clear vision in mind. If I could sum up our wedding in just two words, I would call it, “Southern Simplicity”. Being a somewhat plain person, my goal was not to cover up existing beauty, but to enhance the beauty that already existed within the venues that I had chosen. Therefore, I decided to keep a very minimalistic mindset, but when necessary, adding very elegant, old southern charm.

Growing up and living in Danville for the majority of my life, I had driven by Chaplin Hill numerous times and always envisioned getting married amongst its sprawling green grass, atop the grand front porch. So, when the owners of the home agreed to hosting our ceremony, I was overjoyed to know that my dream was coming true. I kept everything very simple, as the property itself boasts so much beauty in its brick paved sidewalks, trickling fountains, and gorgeous greenery. With just rows of white chairs, subtle sounds of violins and pianos in the background, and the most perfect breeze, my vision came true and was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined.

We hosted our reception at the Combs Warehouse, which is located on the campus of Centre College. Yet again, my goal here was to enhance the natural beauty of this 118-year-old former hemp warehouse. As you open the door, you are immediately drawn to the exposed brick walls, antique wooden beams, and the beautiful original hardwood floors. My vision for our reception was elegant and dreamy, with dark lighting and numerous candles, amongst clean and airy floral centerpieces that consisted of hydrangeas, roses, and peonies. I suppose I should rename my wedding vision “Southern Simplicity…plus a little Mexican food”, as we made the best choice in deciding upon Chuy’s for our wedding meal. Guests enjoyed chips, salsa, queso and their signature “creamy jalapeno” sauce before indulging in an enchilada bar. Yet again, as I looked around and saw flickering candles lighting the dozens of flowers throughout the room, I realized that my vision had come true and it was absolutely everything that I had wanted.
