Rachael and Jake's Double Ceremony
From the Bride: Not many people can say they got married twice in one day, but Jake and I can! From backcountry hiking, to skiing, and to rock climbing, we have always had a passion for exploring the great outdoors. We got engaged in Portland, Oregon and then decided to move back home to Kentucky after spending the last one and a half years of our lives traveling the United States. So, it came to no surprise that we envisioned ourselves getting married outside. However, to continue with our spiritual and faithful journey within the Catholic church, we married in the church first thing in the morning with just our immediate family. Later on our wedding day, we had an outdoor wedding ceremony that included our friends and extended family.
After we moved back home to Kentucky and renovated our home, we decide it was time to start planning our wedding! So, we ended up planning our wedding in about four months. Our goal for our wedding was to make it as simple as possible while showing our love for adventure and the outdoors with added personal touches, all while maintaining a budget. Everything in our centerpieces came from our farm in Williamstown - the wood slabs, mason jars, and flowers to name a few. Instead of using traditional numbers to label the tables, we labeled each table with a city we have either lived in or visited.
With two ceremonies in one day, it was a long day. But, there are moments for each of us that stand out! Rachael has several favorite moments. Our church ceremony is one of them, because it was so intimate and something we had wanted originally. The first look is another that stands out because Rachael had been joking with Jake what her wedding dress would look like, which was making him a little concerned. To see Jake so happy (and relieved) was an amazing moment. Rachael also surprised Jake with our fur baby, Boone. Jake's favorite wedding day moment was the start of our outdoor ceremony. It was validation for all the hard work and planning we had done ourselves, in those short 4 months. Not to mention, how beautiful and romantic the scenery turned out. We both loved having time to ourselves after our ceremony to enjoy the sunset, relax, and take in the day. It was a day we will cherish forever!
