Naomi + Brad's Timeless Spindletop Wedding

From the Bride: I couldn’t sleep a wink. I kept thinking, “Today is the day. It is really happening. I’m marrying my best friend - my lab partner that I met nine years ago in college.” To say the day was magical would be an understatement. Walking into Spindletop Hall that chilly December morning, I was greeted with a tall and glamorous Christmas tree flanked on both sides with a winding staircase. Christmas was sprinkled everywhere throughout the venue—garlands draping fireplace mantles, gorgeous arrangements of red roses and poinsettias, lights dazzling through the chandeliers. Everything I ever dreamed of stood right before my eyes.

One of the most emotional moments for me was my first-look with my Dad, my protector and provider for my entire life. I remember walking down the staircase, eager to see his reaction but also slow to savor this precious moment. “Hi Dad,” I whispered behind him, and he turned around and softly burst into tears. I will never forget that long embrace we shared. “You’re so beautiful,” he told me. I responded, “I’ll always be your little girl.”

The ceremony was traditional, set in an ornate church in downtown Lexington. So many thoughts were buzzing through my mind: Did I forget something? Are the microphones working? Will the pretzel bar be a success? But each of my worries melted away the moment my eyes met Brad’s. I had asked him several times in the months leading to the big day whether he would get emotional. “No way,” he would tell me, laughing. And there he was, standing at the altar looking so dapper, with a wide smile and tears streaming down his handsome face. He later told me that seeing me for the first time walking down the aisle--my princess, sparkly gown dazzling under the church lights--took his breath away. Meeting him at the altar was the moment when it all felt real—a new life is beginning, and this perfect man will be my husband. Surrounded by our dearest friends and family, we celebrated the night away, a night filled with food, laughter, and a dash of Greek dancing. December 14, 2019 was truly the best day of our entire lives.
