Hannah + Jesse's Elegant Speed Art Wedding
From the Bride: For me, the excitement of the actual wedding began pouring through me even before I opened my eyes the morning of. My husband and I never thought of us having a big wedding, but having a huge family, and being surrounded by love in so many directions gave us different plans. My morning was smooth and relaxing - beginning with a yoga session on my parent’s patio, having breakfast, and getting ready with my favorite women while enjoying the peaceful and warm Kentucky air. Once we arrived at the Speed Art Museum, the decorations and set up were breathtaking. Rose and Honey, Fifty Chairs, and L&M Events truly transformed the venue. Lorrie and Melissa from L&M Events were fairy godmothers in disguise who brought all the little and big moments alive. My husband and I decided we would write each other letters in lieu of customizing our vows before the wedding. My beautiful friend Lauren delivered Jesse's letters at the perfect time so I felt I had my best friend with me the entire day and not just waiting for me at the end of the aisle. Lauren also made my day special by delivering me a bag full of goodies and letter for when my dad and I waited at the top of the stairs. These little moments captured are what made the beginning of our journey so special.
The procession began and before I was to walk down the stairs, Melissa videoed my precious niece walking down the aisle to show me before my dad and I began down ourselves. It was a beautiful moment to watch my favorite little girl steal the crowd as we knew she would do. It was finally time for my dad and I to walk down the stairs. My dad, being a former football coach and forever MY coach, had to be reminded that this is not a 40 yard sprint so please don't drag me down the stairs. From my perspective it was filled with laughs and love as my dad and I talked the whole way down. My groom says he was filled with joy as he describes me that I appeared to be completely at ease, filled with happiness and excitement, to become one with my best friend. I greeted him with a "what's up?!" as I was giddy to see him after the long day of being a part knowing we were to become one. During our vows, I was so thankful we didn't customize them as I said 'I Do" too early and could not get my words straight. Dana, our photographer, captured this perfectly with Jesse's facial expressions and my ridiculous reaction to show our true relationship and how we connect with each other.
As with every wedding there are those who we wish could be with us on our day. Our memorial table gave us the presence of our loved ones, including our grandparents, my Great Aunt, and Jesse's sister-in-law. We missed our sister-in-law so much on that day. She was to stand by my side and help us celebrate the night. Unfortunately cancer stole her from us way too soon. I am forever grateful for my now brother-in-law, her husband, for the forever reminder I have of her in the form of a charm with her ashes inside. This charm was placed delicately around my bouquet which was wrapped with my own grandmother's wedding dress. Our wedding will forever be remembered by the words and tokens from those we love. Jesse's brother and best man gave such a heartfelt speech that reminded us to take in every moment. My cousins and matrons of honor, expressed so much love for me; I grew up with them being my role models and big sisters. Lastly, my twin brother truly had a conversation with Jesse and I of love and care during his short and sweet speech. It was the words, the hugs, and love radiated from others which made our day one to remember and cherish as we look back on the day that we became husband and wife.
