Chelsea + Evan's Lexington Wedding

From the Bride: Evan and I were engaged at Triangle Park in Lexington on January 6th, 2019, close to where we met for the first time. Five months later we became Mr. and Mrs. in the most perfect wedding celebration for us. It was important for us to have a summer wedding because I am a kindergarten teacher at Mary Queen and Evan coaches high school football at Lexington Christian Academy. There was no question for where we wanted our wedding to be, Lexington, the place I’ve called home for 27 years and the place the two of us fell in love. We wanted our wedding to suit who we are, so planning a simple wedding that made our guests feel special was extremely important to us. After those decisions were made, everything else fell right into place.

Our faith is very important to us, so a week prior to our June 15th wedding, we were married in the Catholic Church at Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary with our immediate family as guests. The Catholic Ceremony was very special, but it was made even more special because I wore my mother’s wedding dress altered into a gorgeous white top paired with white pants. Our wedding weekend began with a beautiful rehearsal dinner at Keene Trace hosted by Evan’s parents. The weather was truly a gift from God beginning with the rehearsal and leading into our wedding day. The bridal party got our hair and makeup done at Mickey’s Salon and Spa, where I have had my hair done my entire life. We took a party bus to the Mansion at the Marriott where we continued to get ready. Some of my favorite memories took place at the Mansion such as, my moments with my mother and my first look with my dad, my grandmother, and my bridal party. The ceremony was held on a beautiful patio right next to our reception tent. It overlooked the golf course and the gorgeous landscape created a perfect atmosphere. Untraditionally, I walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman. After we watched this movie, Evan told me every time he heard this song, he thought us. Evan’s favorite part of our day was seeing me walk down the aisle, which makes this song even more memorable. Something that meant a lot to me was what I carried in my bouquet. My grandmother gave me a light blue handkerchief that she carried on her wedding day that was given to her by her mother on her wedding day. Wrapped around the handkerchief was a light blue Rosary that was blessed at our Catholic Ceremony given to me by a close family friend.

It is hard for me to me pick just one favorite wedding day moment. A few of my most favorite memories from our day are, seeing Evan for the first time as I walked down the aisle and dancing to Beyond by Leon Bridges for our first dance. Quite simply, being surrounded by all our closest friends and family is what made the day the best day of our lives.
