Dallas + Cassidy's Merefield Farm Wedding
From the Bride: When picking a venue I truly wanted everyone to get a feel of what Kentucky is really about. It was important for my now husband Dallas and me to provide an evening of celebration and love. We wanted to give people an unforgettable experience in a little slice of Kentucky heaven. Midway, KY is a quaint town surrounded by horse farms and colonial homes. After driving through town, towards the back of horse pastures sits a twinkling lit barn and to the left a white wooden chapel. The Vintage Barn at Merefield Farms is stunning and helped capture the overall feeling I wanted our guests to have.
It was important to us that our wedding achieved an intimate/elegant feel. Before the wedding many weekends were spent antique shopping all over Kentucky and Tennessee. Over 130 different pieces of platted china were handpicked, placed on silver chargers and displayed on family style wooden tables. Beautiful 6’ eucalyptus runners filled with peonies and antique roses were placed in the middle of the tables. In the Vintage Barn, handpicked antique furniture created different areas of sitting for an intimate feel. We had an outside ceremony at the white chapel, we hand selected 130 different antique chairs and then had two church pews for immediate family. For our wedding favors we planted over 130 succulents into individual pots and created an adorable DIY project, this was a big hit with guests. This DIY project was also one of my favorite parts about the wedding.
Being more traditional based, I didn’t want to do a first look. We decided to write letters to each other and read them before the wedding. Standing on either side of the door we read our letters. We laughed, cried, and Dallas prayed for our future marriage. After the ceremony we had a horse & carriage take us to a private part on the farm and take pictures. Taking a moment to ourselves was Dallas's favorite part, "It was a chance to take a breath and soak it all in". It also gave guests time to walk to the outside round barn where we all danced the night away under twinkling lights. We had a s’mores bar and friendly/competitive games of corn hole, jenga, and connect 4. Guests also spent time at the photo booth, where we got some of the best pictures of loved ones! A sparkler sendoff was the perfect closing to our night in front of The Vintage Barn.
