Melanie and Scott's Buffalo Trace Wedding
Colorful, Bourbon-Inspired Wedding
From the bride: I love that our wedding represented us as a couple and our personalities. I wanted our guests to feel like they attended a wedding for "Melanie and Scott" and not feel like just another wedding. Scott is a Bourbon-connoisseur so it was only fitting to have our reception at a bourbon distillery. Over the course of planning our wedding, we started saving and collecting bourbon bottles and then asked our floral designer to incorporate those into our centerpieces. Instead of cake, we had a Donut Bar from North Lime Donuts. Scott has a huge love for donuts and is also a police officer--only fitting, right? During the reception, Scott surprised our guests with lip-syncing the song "Pour Some Sugar on Me" by Def Leppard.
I have a love for color and that definitely showed in many aspects of our wedding. My engagement ring is a cushion cut blue sapphire with a diamond halo. I wore a champagne-colored A-Line chiffon gown with intricate lace bodice and a sweetheart neckline. The floral designer also knew I wanted color, especially sunflowers and anything in blue tones. The flowers completely transformed our reception space and set the tone for our event!
My favorite wedding moment was when we were introduced and we sat down for dinner at our sweetheart table. I remember Scott reaching over to grab my hand, held it tight, and we embraced a quiet moment as we looked around at everyone there who we loved and cared about. In that moment, the nerves were gone and we could relax, and take it all in. It was an overwhelming but wonderful feeling to see all of our family and friends there for us, and it felt amazing to see everyone so happy for us. The day wouldn't have been possible without those who have loved and supported us for many years.
Advice for brides: This is your day Make it a reflection of you and your husband and your life together. Incorporate unique aspects that you'll love and cherish and remember forever. It keeps the wedding planning process fun and engaging.
