Kara and Mike’s Wedding Day at The Pointe

Small Details create the Perfect Wedding Day for Kara and Mike

From the bride: When it came to making Mike and I's wedding day special and unique to us it was definitely in the "small details." Getting married a week before Derby, it would have been too easy to fall into a "theme,” but for us it was important that different aspects of both of our personalities came through subtly throughout the entire day. For me, it was important to feel the vibe of "spring time" by bringing in every spring color imaginable - greenery, whites, pinks, purples, mauves. For decor, I knew I wanted candles, candlesticks, bud vases, a show stopping floral arch...I truly wanted it all and I did not let myself be put in a box.

My favorite question that I got from friends and family was "what colors are you choosing?" That answer, of course, got complicated, but my florist pinned my style "moody spring," which I loved! I didn't let myself be set on any particular colors and I just knew that it was only important that they all flowed together organically. For Mike, he very much likes to be active, hang out with friends and drink craft beer so it was a no-brainer for his best man to plan their day getting ready at Flying Axes because what guy doesn't want to throw axes on their wedding day? If anyone also knows Mike well they also know that he loves Kentucky and the south and he was very adamant about having cotton incorporated in his and his groomsmen boutonnieres.

For adding aspects that brought in things we both love, everyone knows that we love to travel and see Jimmy Buffet together. Mike has been to over 20 shows but how on earth do you incorporate Jimmy Buffet into a classic, spring time wedding? For our introduction, we had ourselves and entire wedding party walk in to the venue with leis, cheeseburger hats, shark fin hats, parrot hats even! It was truly so fun and everyone loved it! And of course, our first dance was to Jimmy's "Come Monday." Our wedding day was truly perfect and we both got everything that we wanted and imagined our day to be. I believe it's important to know that for your special day, you really can "have it all" and do it in a very organic and classic way.
