Taylor + Griffin's Harrodsburg Wedding

From the Bride: Griffin and I both care for our family and friends so deeply, that we really wanted our day to be reflective of that. We wouldn't be where we are today, after 7 years if it were not for the people along the way. Quite a few things stand out to us but to keep it short here are a few.

My sister Gabby planned out, wholesale ordered all the elements from Fifty Flowers, and prepared all of the florals. It was such a unique experience to be surrounded by all of the flowers in the days leading up to the wedding and everyone in the family around to lend a helping hand. For the tables, we had wooden decals of everyone's name made (including the vendors) to have a personalized touch and eally represent and show people we were thinking of them. Our dog Denali was represented on the bar graphics since she couldn't be in attendance. We take her with us to bars and breweries on a regular basis, so it only felt fitting to name the bar after her. Griffin was the only one to wear a tie out of the guys, outside my dad and bonus dad. They all three had the same tie to show a sort of symbolism of them being unified. For jewelry, I gave all the girls in the wedding party a floral element for their hair that resembled a smaller version of the one in mine to bring the whole thing together. We gave our mothers and grandmothers a silver bracelet that had words that describe them engraved in the inside. I was also wearing one that says "strength" on the inside because they are the women who strengthen me and make up the woman I am.

For the first looks, ceremony, and reception... I did a first look with my grandmother. While this is not traditional, she is my only living grandparent and she means the world to me. I also had a group of girls that have been my best friends since high school. They were my "something blue crew" and it was a way to honor them outside of being bridesmaids. During our ceremony, our good friend and pastor Joshua Copley married us. Before his father passed away, he used to marry people as well, this was our way of honoring him and his father both. Into the reception and prior to eating, Griffin and I asked to say a few words. We used this time to publicly thank our parents for raising us, supporting our relationship and the contributions/sacrifices they made for our day, as well as thank everyone in attendance for being such a special part of our relationship and journey. For the dances, I planned a secret dance with my bonus dad, Rodney. He had also raised me and Griffin and thought this would be a good way to honor him. The only people outside of the two of us who knew about it were my dad and mom. When finishing the first dance with my dad (Bayard), we walked over to Rodney and asked him to fill in place of my dad. Lastly, we took a group photo with all the guests in attendance. Not only was it a good way to get everyone on the dance floor but also to capture one singular photo where we could see and remember everyone we love!

Bride’s Advice: Do no take other people's opinions so seriously when planning. You can listen and take them into consideration but at the end of the day... your wedding should be a reflection of you and your partner. Choose to do what make you both happy, despite how other people may feel about it.
